• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tire change

How long should it take or how long will they bill you for? I've heard of shops that charge 2 hours labor for rear tire change.

Just depends...

My old dealer did not charge to mount front or rear if you purchased tires from them...new dealer charges $49 for rear tire if you purchase from them. While travelling needed a rear tire and the Myrtle Beach dealer quoted me 3-4 hrs at $110 hr to replace rear tire (and that was after I bought tire from him)...said NO THANK YOU..and drove on. Dealer in FL charged me for 1 hr labor stating it really is a 2-3 hr job. Said thank you and paid the bill. Of course I have never tried to change myself or timed when I have had mine mounted...anxious to see what the SL experts say on this one. I do know they are a bugger to change...I am pretty proficient at changing a car or pickup tire...but have never changed one on Ms Spyder. It is a gorgeous 80 degree day in Sunny Lake Chelan so a :spyder2: ryde is about to occur.... Everyone have a great day...

Shop around..!!

from the many posts you have a lot of times and shop rates. Don't have my manual to see the flat rate (BRP suggested time) but know it is done in less than an hour. You can shop around and see which one has best price, make an appointment and make a day trip out of it if far away..good luck..!!

Funny this is posted. I'm at Hattisburg Cycle (MS) right now....waiting in their lobby and getting my rear tire changed, new belt, oil/transmission change and a one year service. Total will be about 4 hours and $1000.

Yeah...but the tire was pretty worn when I got it so I knew what was getting into. The belt had slacked and a rock got caught between the sprocket and the belt, tearing a chunk out of the center of the belt. The yearly device alone is $250.00 (includes the oil/tranny fluids changed). I believe he told me the belt was $320.00 alone.

Just had a rear tire changed Thursday. Cost was 363.00. Dealer charged one and three quarter hour labor @ $80.00 per hour. They showed me the flat rate book which shows two hours. It varies by dealer.

I was looking over my last rear tire change bill. The tire was $179.99--up from the previous $149. The labor was over 2 1/2 hours. Total bill--$592.49 for a rear tire and installation. Kind of harbors on outrageous to me. At least the fronts are easier and less expensive to change out.

Yesterday I took the :spyder2: in for an oil change service (12,000 mile variety) and to have both headlamps replaced--one had burned out. The headlights cost $16.79 each--the labor to replace them (have to take off the front they said)--1 hour--$110.00. My bill including the oil change service and the headlamp replacement $506.57.

That's $1099.06 for a tire, light bulbs, and an oil change service so far this season. I am not a mechanic and have no other alternative if I wish to continue driving :spyder2:'s
