• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Thinking about 2014 RT

Longtime two-wheeler, currently ride a 2008 Victory Vision Tour and I'm thinking about going to a 2014 Spyder RT. I have two questions for you guys: 1) can the CanAm Garmin GPS easily be added to an RTS similar to what the RT Limited comes with? and 2) it looks like to me the only differences between RTS and Limited is $4,000, GPS, chrome rims and a luggage bag? What am I missing. Also anyother tips/comments are appreciated.

Thanks

:welcome: The GPS is the principal functional difference between the two model.
The rest is largely "Appearance" items, that may simply come down to your personal taste and needs.

Vineland? We used to come down there in the late seventies to a skateboard park... I served my collegiate sentence up in Lawrenceville at Rider...
Those were the days! :2thumbs:

You are correct, very few differences, GPS being the major one. Very comfortable ride.

you will not regret getting one

See my project posting about using non-BRP GPS.

If you are handy with stuff like that it's not to hard to install a GPS on a spyder. Some riders don't care for the location of the factory installed GPS. I installed mine on the top of the dash. I have little under $700. in my Garmin 660 with mounting brackets. I'm going to update my 2012 RTS-SE5 maybe this fall or next year. Unless I get a smoking end of the year deal on a limited I'm pretty sure I'll just get the RTS-SE6. I personally think the Limited is a little over priced for what you get.

There are a TON of options for adding a GPS to the Spyder - from $100 up, depending on what you want/need - I added a Zumo 550 to my RTS, with 100% aftermarket parts. However, I did not have NOR WANT any of the "connectivity" stuff other riders crave. I never wear a "Full" helmet, nor desire to converse with anyone, or hear anything but the wind or my tunes, while I ride. Therefore the install was quite easy.

You have done your homework well. The differences are what you have found. It boils down to what you want in final appearance accessories, Garmin, and color. Let us know what you decide. Once you start reading the site, you will find that pictures are a requirement.

I have seen similar post before and the same answers that I believe are not quite correct. I thought that the automatic transmission that is standard on the limited is on option on the RTS and is close to $1,600.00. I could be wrong, but pretty sure I am correct. So if you are comparing apples to apples, it is not just a GPS, chrome and front bag. I believe the difference between the apples to apples RTS and Limited is more like $2,400.00 not $4,000.00. If I am wrong I apologize for the incorrect post.

Not an incorrect post--just another way of looking at things. Since the LTD only comes with an SE5, I think most are assuming that the SE5 is going to be a part of the equation--hence the additional $1600.

I was a long time biker - but the switch to the Spyder was one of my best decisions. I no longer worry about dropping my bike, whether starting or stopping, and having a passenger doesn't present any issues, like you have with a 2-wheeler. Go for it and enjoy a new concept in touring. My wife and I are contemplating a cross country ride from Nebraska to New Jersey this summer.

Yes.

Me thinks you nailed it down, Southjerseyrider. We thought the same way and have been happy with decision to go without Limited pkg. while enjoying the savings.
