• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

There is ONE good thing about living in California...

okay...TWO things. SCUBA diving is incredible in CA, and YOU CAN RIDE ALL YEAR LONG!
We just installed heated grips on my Spyder :yes:and my commute over the San Rafael bridge was comfy! Thanks to my hubby for all his hard work - getting it JUST PERFECT (he is a bit of a perfectionist). It took longer than we anticipated to install, but well worth it. Or at least I think so...he is still deciding.

He set them up so they switch off automatically when keyed off. He was nervous that I might forget to switch it off and drain my battery. As if...:opps: We have more photos if anyone is interested in how he installed them on my RS-S.

I know, I know...some of you lucky souls had them when you purchased your Spyder.

I am so jealous of you guys and your gorgeous weather... :opps:
Heated grips are just about the greatest thing since sliced bread!

:agree: here in Las Vegas the weather is just about perfect for riding now. Now if only my Spyder wasn't in the shop I could take advantage of it.

What for now Ann? Mines in for a tire, oil change, and throttle body. Luckily I'm out of town anyways, so I'm not missing anything.

The shutters on my headlights won't stay up so I don't have bright lights, the stupid parking brake failure is at it again and they are going to try to figure out why it shakes so much at 40 - 50 mph.

Keep us posted. It's never fun to have the :spyder2: in the shop when you can be riding.

Hijack:

Spyder Ann and Arr: What kind of weather do you think we will have the second and third week of December? I am still wanting to take a trip up to Zion, and some other trips within a hundred miles or so of Vegas.

I wasn't here in December last year but I checked weather.com and the average high for December is 57 and the low is 39. You are coming early in the month so maybe it will be a little warmer. Zion's average high for Dec is 43.

It gets cold in winter. Cold and windy. If the wind stays low and you have good cold weather gear, riding usually isn't an issue.

While some may not think 32 is cold, it is a very biting 32, especially with the wind, and when you are coming from highs in the hundreds just a few weeks prior... Yeah... It's a big swing. If we happen to get some precipitation, it could well be snow, and icy roads aren't unusual, though that is usually due to gutters and lawn sprinklers.

SWITCH

you may want to consider replacing your toggle switch with a weather proof unit.... if you get caught in the rain with that one, it'll fry your fuse... and nobody likes to get their fuse fried... you do have it 'fused', don't you...? :yikes:

The switch is included in the kit from the manufacturer and has worked great on my husband's motorcycle for 65,000+ miles in all kinds of weather. He has installed this same switch on 8 bikes now and no one has had any fried switches.

There is a 5A fuse on the power lead that is connected to the battery, so it is protected in case of a short.

Ooh...
I can see the start of a feud... :roflblack:
don't ever tick off a redneck; they've got WAY too many family members... :yikes:

I just got back from a 'wet' run from Morro Bay. I realize it is time to install the heated grips I bought in early spring and never had a use for them until this trip. That and maybe some of Baja Ron's new riding suits. I am central valley and don't do cold very well.

Still NOT worth living in CA especially with that big tax increase you guys just voted in. No thanks, I like my snow and cold weather!

California voted in a tax increase? Oh my! Say it ain't so Joe!

My question is, when the tax goes to 100% of everything you make.... and it still isn't enough, then what? :yikes:
