• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Spyder Sweater Thread

That's my nickname for the joyful experience of making one mod, then needing another mod, then needing ANOTHER mod... just like pulling a sweater thread.

So, a few months back I started out with an increasingly disappointing stock RS exhaust.

Bought myself a Yoshi pipe to replace it. Knew there was a chance that I'd need a fuel modifier/controller.

Well, yup, sure needed one. After about a month running the Yoshi, the popping is too much for me, so I sprung for a controller (bought a Juicebox Pro, figured I'd try that out).

Spent this morning prying apart the Spyder to put in the JB. The instructions recommend removing the airbox to reach the connectors-- something I soon realized was quite necessary to avoid the pain and suffering associated with trying to jam my fingers in there.

Alas, I discovered for myself just what an awful mess that airbox is-- even without a ton of oil in it, it's still messy and bulky enough that I concluded there's simply no way in heck I'm going to put something that poorly designed back into my bike.

Thus, I just shelled out MORE money for the Kewl Metal air intake kit, hoping it gets here without waiting forever, seeing as a I have half-nekkid Spyder sitting in my driveway underneath my Bike Barn.

Anyway... like I said, sweater thread. Just keep on pulling it... :gaah:

Ain't it fun!
Good luck with this project, and we can't wait to read about it's successful conclusion!
Sometimes it's just better to go buy a new sweater! :roflblack:

Welcome to the knitting club. This is why I did mine all at once so I wouldn't have to go back and tear into it again and again. The waiting was painful but worth it in the end.
If you are any kind of hot rodder you are going to love the new intake sounds. :ohyea: Also with that big plastic box gone things are so much easier to get at. It took me less than 30 minutes to install new plugs and wires. Besides even if you can't see it once the bodywork is back on it looks so cool!

Yeah, the maintenance aspect alone convinced me. Moment I had the box out, it seemed tragic to put it back. I can actually *see and reach* everything now, why would I want it any other way?

I'm just hoping the noise isn't too overpowering. I'm not a fan of loud-- I ride with earplugs and a full face, but even then, I'd prefer something that wasn't too noisy. But I'm willing to make the trade to get all the other ancillary benefits that come with the new intake.

Now, the NEXT trick is tuning my JB Pro... I'm assuming that with the intake and the exhaust I'll be in the "3" setting wheelhouse now, and tweaking from there?
