I was first bitten back in June or July of 2008 when my stepfather brought me a postcard style "teaser" brochure he received in the mail for the spyder. As soon as I knew the local dealer had them, I was there. I demo'd the spyder 3 times. I was ready to pull the trigger and buy one the first time I had seen it, but credit wasn't so good at the time. I spent 3 years trying to figure out how to get one, until the deal of a lifetime came through for me. I purchased a 2006 Yamaha Roadstar 1700cc Midnight for $4,700 cash. I rode it for about 5 weeks or so, and then came into a little money and decided to see what kind of deals there were for spyders locally. I sold the Roadstar for $6,100 (netting a profit of $1,400). I found a very nice guy who was selling a spyder originally for $12k, but had dropped his price to $10.5k. After some negotiating we settled on $8,700 cash. I drove down the next day to get her. So after my $1,400 profit from the roadstar I really only paid $7,300! Hell of a deal. as Trade in on it is $7,500! 2008 Silver SM5 w/2,200 miles
The itch continues. :spyder:
While getting my DPS recall done the other day I had to check out the RT. I was offered an incredible deal on the 2010 RT-S Demo w/trailer and it was very hard to walk away from. We literally spent a good 3 hours trying to decide if we were gonna take her home. My wife was totally on board! I think the initial shock of her saying yes still has me frazzled! However, I decided not to buy because I would have had to trade in my RS to make the payment manageable, I couldn't do that. I want the RT for 2 up riding and I want to keep the RS for my need for speed sport solo riding. So we decided to lose a car payment over the next few months and then go back and purchase the RT so I can keep my RS. YAY!
I think the bite is infected, really really itches now. :spyder:
I thought the itch would subside a little once I got my spyder and was able to ryde it and customize it. WOW, I was wrong. It's worse! I spend all my time thinking about the spyder. Or cruising the internet looking for any new cool mod I can do to her. I have a show recorded on my DVR from the SPEED channel called "Test Ride" (normally test drive), where the hosts were given 2 RT spyders and 2 RS spyders to test them out. They ride from Tahoe to Malibu and its about 30min long. I watch it all the time, or just put it on for backround noise while I am doing other things. And now both my wife and I want to purchase all new gear with the spyder logos on em. :roflblack: How do I not own stock in BRP? I think I may be funding their R&D completely by myself! :roflblack:
Neither calamine lotion nor Benadryl will make the itch stop.:spyder:
Now my wife is dying to have her own RS! But we still also want an RT. We can not share my RS because she has expressed her want for a custom pink girly spyder that I just don't see myself riding. She still wants the RT for long distance 2 up riding too. So within the next year or 2, we will be a 3 spyder family I am sure. Before you know it we will have to move into a house with a larger garage just to fit all the toys! Even though we are talking a whole lot of money here, I couldn't be happier! I will continue to be an advocate/enthusiast/seller/ryder/enjoyer of all things spyder.
AAAAAAAAHHHHHH it itches....:spyder:
Anybody wanna start S.R.A. (Spyder Ryders Anonymous)? "Hello, my name is Tim, and I have a problem..." :roflblack::roflblack:
