• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Great River Road

Has anyone tackled this ride? We are looking for the next adventure and was looking at this ryde. Is it best to tackle it from north to south, or south to north? Did you go all the way to the southern most point of the road? Was it worth going all the way, or was there portions that were spectacular and other ho-hum? It appears there is a road on both the east and west banks of the Mississippi. Is one side preferable over the other?

Our thoughts were to start in the north and move south. and taking the eastern route. We have sent off for brochures and will also do our research online, but there is nothing link hearing from others as to what they would recommend.

They just had a car rally called "The Great Race" which traveled down the river road from St. Louis to New Orleans. Look up www.greatrace.com, there is a map on the website. When you get near Louisiana we can certainly help you out with a route.

If you do travel the Great River Road following the Mississippi, be sure to stop in Davenport, Iowa at the junction of US150 & I-80 (just about 3 miles from the Great River Road) at the Iowa Machine Shed. It is one of the best restaurants in the Mid-West. They have a 2" thick pork chop stuffed with an apple dressing and all the trimmings you could ever imagine. Visit their website for more information http://www.machineshed.com/. Check out their menu and gift shop. Prices are also reasonable.
