• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The covid 19 different question......

There is a thread here on SL's with a link to see where you are in line for the vaccine, if you want one. My question is not whether you want one or not. I received an email from the VA, and it made it sound like they will be getting their own batches. They (the VA) provided a link to sign into whether you were interested or not interested. My question is, is the VA getting their own separate supply? Does that mean you can end on 2 different lists? Just curious.

Don't know about the lists, but just read on Yahoo news that VA is getting its own supply and listed the first 39 VA Hospitals for the first supply.
Said Hosp staff and older VA residents get it first.

I received a message from the VA that said essentially the same as ulflyer reported. The significant thing about the message is that the VA centers listed are all major facilities and it did not address how veterans who don't live near the listed centers will get the vaccine shots or even sign up for them.

There is a VA center a few miles from me. I don't get treatment there b/c I have Tricare for Life and Medicare. I guess I'll see how it all shakes out.

My Daughter works at a facility for disabled people who are wards of the state and such. They were told to prepare for the vaccine in a few weeks. But the federal detention centers next door are already giving vaccines to inmates and staff.

I got the same email. I'm not "older" so I doubt I'd get it any faster via VA than I would through regular channels. I'll wait. Other than riding, I never go anywhere anyway.

I'm sorry. Don't take this the wrong way. It's early in the morning, and that made me laugh a little.

The whole situation will be interesting to watch. With a roll out that is supposed to cover EVERYBODY, it's going to be very interesting. I don't do queues nor am I willing to be in line for hours.

As to who gets what when...it is going to depend on a lot of things. It is most likely going to vary from place to place because priorities can be different in different places.

I am also watching the "shot" propaganda that is being done daily.

Yes, the VA will most certainly receive their own supply of the various vaccines. I would assume, could be wrong, that any veteran with a service connected disability rating would preferentially be the first in the VA system to be vaccinated along with their health care providers. But hey, it is after all the VA:banghead::banghead::banghead:

It's easy to agree with your implied question of why are the prisons early in line? But when you think about how the inmates are in close quarters all the time, and how many staffers are in and out each day, it makes sense to try to snuff out one of the hottest of all the hot spots as quickly as possible.

I heard that exact point on a radio news article on the way to the fitness center this morning.

I wasn't implying any question. You maybe trying to read too much into what I said.

This is true. I have 2 nephews that are in security at federal prisons. One of them was required to wear full ppe while guarding his group of 60 inmates. During that time, he was not allowed to visit anyone, and his entire household (himself and his wife) were in quarantine. His wife is a teacher, and is doing it virtually, so that wasn't too much of a problem. I went online yesterday and see that I am around number 1,705,000 in line here in NC. While filling out the questionaire, there were a lot of questions that kept placing me further and further back. But when they asked if I was fat, (I usually say no), I definitely said that I was obese this time. That is probably why I didn't get placed below the 2,000,000 mark.

Came across this bit of info; Vaccine Finder app that will become live in early '21. The site is up now, but it is for finding places to get other types of shots.

VaccineFinder is a public-facing website that will be a Google Maps for the COVID-19 vaccine. Originally built by Google for the H1N1 pandemic in 2009, the project has been led by a team of epidemiologists and software developers at Boston Children's Hospital since 2012. Now it’s pivoting to focus on COVID-19, in partnership with the CDC and healthcare technology company Castlight Health, a major provider of data on COVID testing locations.

Not unlike bicycle share service maps or the icon showing your cellphone’s remaining battery, the VaccineFinder map will show users where they can get their shot and whether the supply at these locations is high, medium or low. The app is set to go live in early 2021, once the initial high-risk immunization phase for front-line health care workers and nursing home residents has passed.
