• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Amish Hunt 6/4/2011

I have ridden most of these roads, but never strung them all together. The starting point is below the Alum Creek dam. Huge parking place and accessible from all points on the compass. This ride is medium length (just over 200 miles) for a good reason. Riders will want to take their time and enjoy the scenery on this one. Some of the best leisurely sweeping roads in NE Ohio are on the docket. Anytime you're in Amish country you can count on awesome vistas and real authentic country roads. The only dangers to watch for are the occasional piles of horse manure in the road. ;D
The route takes us through Mount Vernon's famous town square as we head north toward Wooster to get some gas and maybe a snack. Then we head South. Fredericksberg, Holmesville, Millersberg, Sugarcreek are all in the heart of Amish country. We'll cross the famous Y Bridge in Zanesville, one of only 3 worldwide. Then we head East on the Old National road. We will likely see dozens of other cyclists on this road. Final destination is the Dairy Queen on route 310. This is one ride you do not want to miss.

Still adjusting the exact route on this ride. We will all be stopping to get gas in Loudenville. There's a Marathon station in town on the route with plenty of pumps and extra parking spaces. A good place to "regroup" since we'll see some separation in the group while riding through the geographical center of Ohio...Centerburg. Also, a fill-up in Loudonville should give everyone plenty of gas to finish the ride. The first part of the ride will be a fast pace to get us in the Amish country. The second half of the route will be slower and much more scenic. We will be eating at the world famous Der Dutchman restuarant that is about 1/2 through the route. Next to the Hocking Hills area this is becoming one of my favorite places in Ohio to ride. Time seems to slow down.

Here's some pictures of the starting point. Not hard to find, plenty of parking for a lot of Spyder ryders and more importantly...public restrooms. ;D Still working on a good starting time since this ride takes 4 hrs on the road to complete at the minimum. Stay tuned for more details....

I may be blind

Ok, maybe I'm blind and don't see it...what time are we meeting at the dam?

Anyone interested in breakfast at Bob Evan's at I 71 and Rt 36/37 before the meet. Lynn and I will be there.
