• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Texas 85 miles per hour on the expressway

Lawmakers are considering raising the speed limit to 85 miles per hour on the expressway. The state's current speed limit is already at 80 miles per hour.

Which expressway? :gaah:

The western part of I-10 is 80 mph. The winds were so bad we were lucky to do 75.

When I got my license, "Reasonable and Prudent" was the only speed limit in place on the highway. Ahhh, "the good ol' days". :D

Cool! I remember when Montana used to have an unlimited during the daytime and a speed limit at night. Texas is a big state with large expanses of very low traveled highways. In traveling around the country traffic speeds alway seems to reach a natural maximum. You are always going to have someone who wants to go a lot faster but those individuals are few. There's nothing worse than traveling on a highway that has a low "unnatural" speed limit. I remember when the country went to 55 mph, bloody hell that really sucked. :gaah:

Interesting that the reason they lowered it to 55 mph had nothing to do with safety--- it was 100% because of the gas crisis...... so if we're in a gas crisis now--- (we're at $3.99 for regular) - then why are they not lowering the MPH again??? Sure hope they don't-- but if there really is a gas crisis (which I don't believe there is) - then you would think they would be lower the speed limit.....

bah hum bug to gas prices and expressway speed limits.

If posted speed is 55, drivers run 65 Plus
If posted speed is 70 drivers run 80 Plus
If posted speed is 80,, you can bet 90 Plus

I am with Retired 1.... when I got my license the speed limit, except within city limts, was reasonable and prudent.

While I like the idea. There are to many "Fair weather" drivers that have no clue regardless of age, how to drive in wet conditions. And other non 80 degree perfect weather days.

Add to that youthful drivers, equals a heck no vote from me if I had it. I want to live, not be taken out by a moment of inexperience of another driver... nojoke
