• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Techmount TechGripper using a RAM Mount for Phones/GPS

YIRYDE

formerly pman2011
I saw this Techmount Gripper (http://www.techmounts.com/products/index.php?page_function=detail&product_id=317) on SpyderPops F3 and a few other members at Bike week and liked it better than my Ram X-Mount (http://www.rammount.com/products/xgrip/un7_learn). The TechGripper has various mounts for handlebars but requires a 17mm ball mount, which is the size that a lot of Garmin GPS's use. I didn't want to remove my RAM B Ball mounts on my Spyder and found a RAM B ball to 17mm adapter from Site Vendor, JT’s Machine Shop which was a perfect fit.

I have used the X-mount for a couple of years without any problems but have always worried that my phone may come loose. The TechGripper holds my IPhone 6 Plus very securely in place.

See the photo’s below, I was using my Phone to take the pictures so I don't have a picture with the phone installed in the mount.

Items from right to left, Techgripper, Ram B Ball to 17mm Adapter, 3" Ram Arm and B Ball. The Ram Arm and B Ball is there to see how it would connect to the B Ball on my Spyder.

Techgripper and B Ball to 17mm adapter, These were the only items I needed to convert from the Ram X-Mount to the Techgripper.

How does it mount? I have a center mounted GPS on my ST LTD. I would want to mount it to the left of that . The handle bar is not a consistent surface like a Motorcycle.

All you need is a Ram B Size Ball mounted on you Spyder and the arm. A lot of members have mounted the B size Ball in various locations on their Spyders. Here is an example of how one member mounted his B Size Ball. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...ay-to-have-GPS-ball-mount-on-2014-RT-Dash-top.

RAM Strap Mounts

I just added two 3" strap mounts (one on each side of the handlebar) to mount my GPS on the right using the RAM X-mount (love it by the way) and my cup holder on the left side. The strap mounts work well for me as does the X-mount.

Thanks for posting this. I have JT's accessory mount bar with the X-grip, and it's done a great job for me. But I just bought the new Samsung S6, and they staggered the buttons in such a way that the X-grip has no place to grip the phone near the top of it. This is exactly what I need.

Techmount needs a video of this grip on their web site. I was all over their site and still couldn't figure out how this thing works until I found this video on Youtube.

Very nice YIRYDE. I just purchased the same setup (accessories from JT's and cradle from Amazon).

The X-Grip works for most people but I did not have the confidence after viewing a YouTube video and seeing the phone fly off the bike after hitting a bump in the road.
