• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

TapaTalk and iPhone battery life

Does the TapaTalk app tend to drain the battery life on the iPhone? Does it continually run in the background?

My battery does not seem to last as long as it did before Tapatalk.
Thanks

Nothing on the iDevices really runs in the background.... with the exception of things like the App Store updates and something like a music player. TapaTalk can receive Push notifications in the background if the website supports it. It's turned on for mine but I'm not sure if this site supports that feature.

TapaTalk shouldn't affect your battery use.

Biggest drains on iDevice battery that I've seen are bluetooth connections, hotspot and certain games like Angry Birds. Location services for certain apps can also cause excessive drain-- I usually tell most apps NO when asked to use my location.... I mean is it really THAT important that Angry Birds knows where I am??? lol

If you want to turn an app off, double click on the round button, that should bring up a line of the active apps at the bottom of the screen. Pick one and touch it till it shakes, then touch the minus signs to shut them down.

Correct... good thing for people to know how to do.
Just realize those apps are not really 'running'. They are merely held in a sustained state for quick restart.

There were recent upgrades that are affecting battery life on iPhones. The upgrade I just got greatly improved battery life again. Make sure you have the most recent upgrade. We have 150 iPhones at work and they all were affected by the upgrade that came thru a few weeks ago. If you need help stop by an Apple store and they will perform the upgrade for free.
