There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Tank Bag Dilemma

I've been waiting on getting my Spyder back from the dealer to put my new Nelson Rigg Can-Am specific tank bag on it. Got my Spyder today.
So, I marched out to the garage, tank bag in hand, all excited to be finally mounting it. But, it was an absolute NO GO. The Helibar riser on my Spyder makes mounting this tank bag completely impossible. I couldn't even open my seat with the bag simply place on the tank! And the truth is that the tank bag didn't really fit in the space left over the tank whether the seat was open or closed. It wasn't happening.

Luckily, MotorcycleGear.com will take the tank bag back. I'll just be out shipping to get it to them. Live and learn. I could have sworn that when SpyderWolf posted a picture of his Spyder with the Nelson Rigg tank bag mounted, that there was enough room at the top of the bag just behind the handlebars to accommodate the Helibar riser. But, no. :(

Does anyone know of a VERY small tank bag I might get? I am at a total loss of ideas. Might there be a windshield bag that could mount on the Spyder? I have the CHAD. I honestly don't know if that gives me extra room or eliminates available room for a bag forward of the handlebars.

I'm just bummed. We have highway tolls up here in New Hampshire. Having to take a glove off to access money in a jacket pocket is so time consuming that I avoid the tolls completely. There is the remote possibility of my getting an EZ Pass. But, without a tank bag to hold the transponder, I wouldn't even know where to put one on the Spyder. I am so disappointed the Nelson Rigg bag didn't work. It is a nice bag.

I wonder if I'll have to resort to wearing a fanny pack turned to the front. I'm really at a loss of what to do at this point. Any ideas out there???

I was at Cycle Gear the other day. Just looking around. I remember seeing some bags there from saddle bags to small bags. Don't know if there is a Cycle Gear in your part of the country, but maybe check their web site. Good luck in your search.

I am sorry to hear that the NR bag will not fit with the Helibar riser setup. I have not seen that set up in person, so there may be a chance the BRP bag would not fit either. Perhaps someone else has already gone that route and will chime in though, as the BRP bag does sit a bit lower than the NR bag.

If you were to get an Easy Pass, couldn't it just stay in the trunk? I don't know exactly how those things work or where they place them on all the cars that have them. I was just thinking the transponder might be powerful enough to still signal through the trunk lid. :dontknow:

Best of luck finding a suitable solution. I hate when things don't go the way you were hoping they would the first time around.

I say staple the ezpass to your helmet... and paint it reflective green.

Actually mine is mounted to my toolbox in the garage... I don't carry it with me. Have all the cars and bikes registered to it tho, they just take my picture and charge the account without hassle. Not sure that's true in all states but...

my 2 cents :)

RAM MOUNT IT.

Do you have the powerlet insert with ram ball option installed with your helibar setup? I'm willing to bet you could easy buy some ram ball mounts and either -

a) buy a ram ball with the circular base, and mount it to the bag - You'd have to have a metal plate on the inside of the bag for this... But on a short ram arm, you could lay it back down towards you, have full motion of the bars with out it interfering with anything. you could use simply this http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogRes...45050048048045049045050057051085/Default.aspx

or

b) Ram aquabox or something similar... http://www.ram-mount.com/Products/AquaBoxMounts/tabid/125/Default.aspx

Hey... I may have to do that!

Tank bag

I have heliars too with ball mount and 12v plug in center piece.I screwed the ball out and screwed a piece of all thread in.Then i bent over a little put a small plate on the end, then bolted it to a small leather case i bought at honda shop.Works great just be sure to put a jam nut on the allthread where you screw into helibar.:2thumbs:

On all my bikes I've just used the same clear Velcro that comes with it to stick it on the inside of the windshield. If I'm in a state not requiring it I just pull it off. :D
:agree:

I leave mine on the Spyder all the time-- stuck on the inside of the shield--- water has yet to damage it--- and tolls are 1/2 price this way!

But a tank bag is REALLY handy for other stuff. Love my Nelson Rigg I just put on--- far better than the BRP tank bag IMO.
