Switching to 185/60-14 Front Tires - Affect on VSS

New to this forum compared to another for which I am a member. I must say Spyderlovers is packed with better information.
Searches on both about this issue are coming up minimal. I want to switch to 185/60-14s on the fronts and need to know if there will be an affect on the VSS system or will it adapt to the slightly fewer 914-921 revs/mi depending upon which brand tire you select vs. stock 926 revs/mi.

Dealing with the VSS and all its quirks is like visiting the Wizard in the land of OZ. Don't you dare do anything to upset the mighty VSS.

Thanks for the answer, I'm sold. Good tip about the spacers. The Yokohamas and your ride look great. I'm going to try the BFG g-force tires, a little higher treadwear rating and BFG also has a match for the rear. I commute about 80 miles/day, need to make them last. As for OEM vs. car tires, the Kendas seem very soft side-walled. Running them at 15psi bothers me a bit. I live in the desert and the only turns I get to negotiate during my commute involve a traffic light or a stop sign, so I don't put the cornering stress on them that others do. I gotta believe that the Yokohamas, BFGs or others will be superior in handling and safer then the OEM Kendas.

Like other folks, my inside edges are wearing. Negative camber works for good handling, but does BRP need to put so much neg camber on these bikes with no adjustment????

In a word, NONE, nadda, zip, no problems! I've been running that size in a Yokohama AVS ES100 since my Spyder rolled out of the dealer. They fill the fender quite nicely. hyea: The only suggestion is to use a set of 1/2" bushings to raise the fender slightly. It will make install and removal a whole easier.

:agree: At most that's less than a 1.3 percent change in the number of rotations per mile...Pretty dang close! :thumbup:

I went with the Yokos because at the time they were the only ones I could find a match for all 3. I'm a long time BFG tire enthusiast so which specific model are you installing. Keep us updated as to the like & dislikes and as always post some photos once you get them mounted.

Front tire pressure?

I recently changed my back tire due to wear. 12500 miles and its worn out went to the 225/50R-15 Kumho Ecsta AST 45psi. the front end was out of toe and the fronts are worn badly also. looking to change the fronts..lot of good info here. but can any one tell me what pressur they are running with the car tire? I was looking at the Kumho 175 65 r14. any help on tires and what pressure?

I went with General AltiMAX RT's in front. Awesome ryde compared to Kendas. Just absolutely no comparison in terms of stability, tracking, handling, cornering, etc..

They definitely fill the available fender space and Mr. Orange's suggestion to insert spacers is a good one.

Started out with 28 PSI, but have found 25 to be much more to my liking.

If the inside edges are wearing, get the front end alignment checked, you have too much toe out.

So changing to car tires doesn't affect the vss. I've been searching and have gotton mixed answers. I don't need tires anytime soon but I'm trying to figure out the vss with a sticky tire and straight line acceleration.
