• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

STS Passenger backrest w/ luggage rack

Questions

New member
Does anyone have suggestions for a passenger backrest/ luggage rack that will fit right, look good and won't break the bank?
i just picked up my new STS last evening and need a backrest to make my wife happy. I looked at the BRP models, but I don't like either the look or the price. I also want to add a power outlet, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
long story short, passenger backrest, luggage rack and a power outlet for a GPS will make me a happy boy.................until I have more spare cash to play with.
i have 40+ years 2 wheel and trike experience, but this is my first run in the reverse trike realm, but I've enjoyed every minute so far.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new ride
I agree that the price is crazy on the BRP stuff. Some have suggested the smooth spyder backrest. It's got a nice feature of being able to work for either the driver when alone or the passenger when tandem. I'm not sure on the accessories but you could easily poke a hole in the plastic back by the passenger for your 12v outlet. If you are nervous about modifying a body panel you could mount it in one of those vents which would be easier/cheaper to replace back to stock

Agree..!!

:agree: smoothspyder.com. But this is a backrest only. Don't know about other luggage racks. Givi has hardware for their stuff could check with them. You have the wiring for the power outlet in the fuse box where you put it is your choice. Mine is in the frunk gps wire running up to the bars..congrats on the ryde and welcome...

Welcome to the Spyder community! We bit the bullet and had the dealer install the factory back rest. It really is the best. Very secure, wraps around the ryder, its padded, and removable. It is made of cast metal and that puppy is hefty! It know its expensive, but for us, ryding two up, it is the best solution. There is no storage connected to this backrest, but it is very easy to bundgie to. Best!

Went with the smoothspyder backrest; got the last one with carbon fiber wrap. Awesome!!!
