• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I own a 2014 Spyder RT LTD with 41,000 miles on it. My handle bars started to have free play in them. I can wiggle the bars left and right a couple of inches each way without moving the front tires. The dealer examined the steering and told me the steering head gears were worn out and the whole assembly needed to be replaced. I'm lucky I have an extended warranty because the parts cost $1500.00 before labor is added. It sure seems strange for this part to become worn out after owning a brand new machine for only two years. Anyone else see or hear of this? The dealer says now that it has been diagnosed, I cannot ride the Spyder due to this being a dangerous part to wear out.

First one.....

That I have heard of. Bummer, good you have the extended otherwise it would likely be a shopping trip to get a better deal. Hope they can get the parts, they are not real good at that..:banghead::banghead:

I do know of a few others who have had too much play in the handlebars. FlamingoBabe had that happen on her ST and her solution was to trade it for an F3T. A 14RT in Las Vegas had to have a worn part replaced on his too.

Steering head wear

The continuing saga about the worn gears in the steering head on my 2014 Can Am Spyder RT Ltd. with 40,000 miles. The dealer is going to replace the component under the Can Am extended warranty. Without the warranty, it would have cost $2700.00 parts and labor along with a laser alignment. That was a close call!

The service coordinator in the service department says this is the 14th. steering head replacement he has overseen on 2014 and 2015 models. And, this is just one dealer in Tucson. I wonder how many have been replaced across the U.S. and Canada? It's no joke that a worn steering head can lead to a lose of control with serious injuries or even fatal injuries. I filed a complaint with the Federal Traffic Safety Administration about this but, other owners with the same issue need to complain to the Feds in order for them to open a recall investigation. BRP had a recall for this same issue on earlier models a few years ago.

I have 35000 on my 2014 rt and getting the same problem getting ready to take to shop for repair it is a defect my 2011 rt has 52000 no problem
