• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Stainless Steel Front Wire Grill Spyder F3T

I have never been a fan of the wire grill BRP use in the front housing on the F3T
I call it “Chicken Wire”
No one makes a replacement wire Grill that I would like, so I decided to make my own
It had to be made in 2 pieces because of the curve in the existing wire grill/housing
I purchased some 304 Stainless Steel perforated sheets with 5mm holes in it
Each piece was 500mm x 200mm and 1mm thick

I removed the existing wire grill and removed the plastic tabs
I cut the top piece to be 500mm x 60mm
Bent to match the curve
The bottom piece was ok the size was the correct size
A friend helped bend the sides of the bottom piece to fit in the recess of the existing housing and again it was bent to match the curve of the existing housing
Both Stainless Steel sheets were held by cable ties and edges protected by a trim
All fitted in and tested and the running temperature of the Spyder is the same as before
I think the Stainless Steel perforated sheets looks so much better

Very nice, thanks for the share! Now I'll have to source some 304 Stainless Steel perforated sheets with 5mm holes in it
Each piece was 500mm x 200mm and 1mm thick! Hmmmm?

Looks good Eddie, and some great DIY'ing there to get what YOU want!

I appreciate that you are in a significantly different climite than we are, only it's a crying shame that something like that isn't likely to work all that well in the hotter temps we have in parts down here in Oz! Heck, even adding a small/tiny spotlight in front of the grille/in the 'air flow in' here tends to reduce the air flow enough that on our hotter days, engines will simply over-heat; let alone installing a 'less open' mesh of any sort!! We tend to look for things to remove entirely from the front/air flow in areas, rather than looking at things to add that might reduce the air flow! :sour:

It's really not fair - seeing all these good looking things you lot get away with adding, and yet knowing thru hard learned experience that something like that just won't work here! :banghead: (as today's max temp rapidly climbs past 38°C/100°F.... :gaah: )

Grill Guards

:coffee: Are you having any problems with your engine running hot when the ambient temperatures gets above 85°F. A friend tried something like this and had over heat problems.

He has gone back to the original grills. This fixed the problem. ....
