• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ST MIRROR REMOVAL?

JKMSPYDER

I would like to install sequential turn signals on my ST-S mirrors. In looking thru the shop manual, it shows a description of how to remove the mirror assembly, but not how to remove just the mirror and plastic housing. Has anyone done this? If so, did you just pull on the mirror and plastic frame and have it pop out or was it more involved? I can see how I could just remove the mirror glass by using a heat gun, but I think I also need to remove the plastic housing to get to the turn signal wires to tap into. Any help would be appreciated.VisitedStatesMap.jpeg

Carl, I saw your photos but it looked to me like the housing the mirror glass is attached to was still connected to the main housing. Can the mirror glass be pulled or detached from the main housing?

If I remember correctly the mirror proper is attached to the housing via a ball and socket. The ball being on the mirror and the socket being on the other part. The mirror part, with the ball, can probably be separated from the glass.

I did go look at all the pictures I took and unfortunately did not get a good picture of what you need to see. Next time I will take some better and more comprehensive pictures.

Carl
