There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Squeeeeeeky Brakes

During my last couple of rides, coming to a slow stop was hard on the ears with so much squealing from both front brake pads----so----having read on this forum that CRC Brakleen works well----I got some. Using my new sissor jack, I lifted each front wheel---took them off one at a time---put a pan under the brake cylinders and blasted them with CRC---all kinds of gunk came out (covered painted fenders to protect the paint)---wiped everything down and let them dry, which was only about 5 minutes---took The "Black Widow" for a spin---and there is no longer noise from the brakes----Thanks Forum contributers----I learn so much!!!!----SSSS

I took the lazy way out. Gunning to make the green light and wasn't gonna make it. So super hard braking to try see if I can activate the ABS. No ABS but no more squeeky noise either. :D

Sara,

Apparently, the problem is with the brake pads themselves...meaning, it'll probably come back.

Let me see if I can remember some brake facts.

1. Organic...soft and wear fast but very smooth
2. Semi-metallic...harder but wear nicely
3. Metallic...will last forever but will be very squeaky...I think these are on my bmw...they haven't worn down in over 7 years..then again, I don't put on tons of miles on the car.

Regardless, it's likely that the brake pads are a semi-metallic/metallic and that means they're gonna squeak but they're gonna work really well. I assume that the pads that people are replacing them with are either organic or a softer semi-metallic...if you balance brake wear with squeaking, I'll take the squeaking.

Back in the day people worried more about the rotors with the metallic/semi-metallic as they used to wear lines in them, but I'm not sure that is an issue anymore...better technology goes a long way...

Any thoughts from anyone out there? My brakes squeak...the dealer wouldn't replace but did 'treat' them...they didn't squeak for a while...now they do again...I actually did what Scotty recommended and basically did a 45-0 stop in 0 seconds and that has helped more than anything...just hold on tight if you do it this way!
