• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyderpops question

Anyone use the Missing Air Dam and or the Air Management system they have? I'm trying to lower the heat on my 2011 RS right side and thinking these two will work well... or possibly the Air Management system and the Heat Shield. Wasn't sure if anyone used them, had opinions or thoughts...

I have not tryed them yet on my RS as I just this week got it but we had Spyderpops install the heat plate and cat cover on our RT and it's great so I'll order the RS one's soon

Butch installed them 2 weeks ago...WOW! Even I noticed the difference, the only reason my right leg got hot was because of the sun beating down on me. Highly recommend it. -- Paula

I have the air dam and have seen no difference in heat, even on the highway...however, this might be because BRP has been fiddling around with the temperature gauge, throwing off what was originally 3,4, and 5 bars. It's very likely that it is working, but I need to get the newest update to fix the BRP mess.

I am getting frustrated about how BRP always seems to be fiddling with things when there is no need...argh!

The 'Fiddle' need varies from owner to owner. I think BRP has gotten a lot of grief over how the temperature guage reads out giving people the false impression that their Spyder is getting too hot.

This impression is reinforced by the increased heat felt by the rider in Stop & Go traffic (where the gauge tends to get into the 5,6 and even 7 bar range).

Since 5 & 6 bars isn't really hot at all, it would make sense that BRP might want to change the way this gauge reads. You may not care, and at this point neither do I, because we understand the true relationship between bars and temp. But we are probably in the minority.

My 2011 RSS runs at five bars on the temp gauge pretty much all the time. I was fine with that, but since I live in a rather warm place, I decided to install the "missing air dam" as a precautionary measure. After installation, the temp readout still stays at the same level. Therefore, it seems like the air dam made no difference at all. Nontheless, I will keep it there, as it may prove useful if I ever get caught in a traffic jam at 100 degree temps.

I also installed the "missing heat shield" too. This made a very noticeable decrease in the heat reaching my right foot, so I am very happy with it's purchase.

5 bars

5 bars seems to be normal operating temp. it is on my 08gs. maybe cooler weather this fall will bring 4 bars:2thumbs:
