• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SpyderFest Food

For those of us going to SpyderFest for the first time tell us about the food.

Are there food vendors at Duck Stadium?
Do the group rydes end up somewhere for lunch?
Do we just stop somewhere alone the way while doing the Passport routes?

I won't possibly be able to keep my weight up if I don't eat 3 solid meals and snack between each one ;)

Thanks

Don't know what your circumstances are, but I'll tell you mine. Type 2 diabetic and needs three squares a day, and still loose 5-10 lbs on a road trip whether I like it or not. I keep a can of nuts in the frunk for those moments...

Don't know what will be at Duck Stadium. With a little creativity, it can work.

Group rides will have lunch. Stops for scenic spots is a good time to get out the nuts!

The Passport routes are at your leasure. Lots of good stops with yummies in mind.

Pack a bunch of what works for you and enjoy! There's only one Spyderfest!!

Type I here wired up to a blood glucose monitoring system... Borg Picard.jpg We're not going let let anybody starve... They've got lots of places to eat in Missouri; follow me if you can't find any of them!

Nope... nobody will be found along the road; starved to death! :2thumbs:

Not to get too far off the thread, but I had a Maple flavored bacon sundae at Denny's Monday and it was "to die for".:ohyea:

OMG

no, no, no THIS year I am NOT going to bring my elastic waist pants!!! I can resist...I can resist....:banghead::banghead:

Just to help everyone a bit. There is a possibility of a food vendor at Vendor Village, I still don't know if they totally committed or not. There are many, many places to eat in Ozark and Springfield and surrounding areas.
The rides on Thursday and Friday will have lunch stops planned.
Every evening, yes every evening there will be food. Wed, Thur (hamburgers, hot dogs, brats?? and chips), Friday may be the same not sure but has the pie run:yes::yes:,. Saturday at closing events will be a nice spread, just not sure of the menu at this point

Most hotels have a great breakfast. Hope this helps everyone a bit.

I wish at the BBQs they would have an option for those who don't eat beef for those who don't or shouldn't eat beef. Maybe the hotdogs could be something other then beef. Last year we didn't eat any of the BBQs because they were all beef or at least when I ask they said they didn't know for sure. I know you can't please everyone but most would not no the difference if the hotdogs were not beef.

What would you substitute for beef? (Pork, Turkey, chicken?) Is a cholesterol thing that you've got going on? :dontknow:
It depends on how much money they want to spend. Standard hotdogs can be bought in a Pork/Chicken variety and for a little more you can buy Turkey. As far as why, afraid of MAD COW! :yikes: Just kidding. Mostly cholesterol, blood pressure. Doctor recommended limit red meat.

What..!!

that's what you all are worried about is food...:roflblack: You are going to middle america its like the food capital of the world. Never seen such food spreads in my life..eat hearty and healthy (if possible)...!!

Now don't go scaring me off with all this talk about food and bacon and such! :yikes:

Like Yazz, I deal with my diabetes by diet, so what I eat, when I eat, and how much I eat are very important to my well being. Add in some other medical issues, and it is lucky they let me eat anything at all. The various docs have prescribed three different diets...that are all mutually exclusive! As a result, we avoid boat cruises, ride-to-eat get-togethers, parties and weddings, most buffets, and big spreads elsewhere. If we turn you down if you invite us on a group ride or to dinner, please don't be offended...we are just trying to survive. Lack of will power can be a powerful enemy! :)
