• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My suggestion for East Iowa any one chime in for possible stops.

Big Arm we need some western Iowa stops have any?

1. Sutliff bar and grill east central Ia. along Cedar River North of Iowa City.

2. Balltown Ia. just a real cool Mississippi River Bluff town

3. J&P Cycles headquarters in Anamosa Ia. there's a museum in Anamosa and this is where the Co. was founded neat place.

4. Amana Colonies lots of history and a tourist destination.

5. Sabula Ia. a stop there, its a good bike town across river for Savannah Il. the home of Mr. Poopy's. Where Il. could have a stop directly across river.

6. Iowa City Iowa:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: You all could see the most screwed up town in Ia.:roflblack: College town home of the Hawkeyes, and a community of very non-traditional values.

7. The Freedom Rock near Greenfield

8. Little Brown Church, Nashua

9. The Grotto, West Bend

Hey, I just seen this thread, :2thumbs:
For Western Iowa, I would have to suggest a trip around Lake Okoboji and Spirt Lake. :ohyea:
In LeMars, Iowa, one needs to stop at the famous Well's Blue Bunny Ice Cream Shop or a visit to their factory.
In Sioux City, you could watch the Missouri River coming over the banks :yikes: or a visit to the Lewis and Clark Welcome Center and Museum. We also have the Argosy Gameing River Boat Casino. Sioux City is also home to Jolly Time Popcorn, Sue Bee Honey, and Palmer Candy Co.
Futher down the road is Onawa, Iowa with the "Widest Main Street" in the country.
A stop at Desoto Bend National Wildlife Refuge, near Missouri Valley, Iowa, for all who enjoy watching the geese migration, or a visit to the "Bertrand", the Sunken River Boat Musuem.
Council Bluffs, Iowa also has several gameing facilities :2thumbs:

Jedd,
He in central Iowa we have Adventureland Amusment park. That is in Altoona. Right beside it is Prairie Meadow Horse racing and Casino.

In Des moines there is the Iowa cubs playing and the Iowa Barnstormers arena football. Also you can see the capitol of Iowa.

South of Des Moines is Pella a Dutch settlement. In May they have there big Tulip Time.

I will think of more and let you know.

There's also the Covered Bridges in Madison County, around St Charles IA and then there is always John Wayne's birthplace in Winterset IA

:dontknow: According to Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, John Wayne was born in her home town of Waterloo. :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:

Ready for rides in Iowa!!

Bought my CanAm last summer....ready to find some riding friends! Council Bluffs area!!!

Anyone in Iowa interested in starting a Iowa Spyder Club? I live in Ames, Ia and just purchased a 2012 Spyder RT Ltd. I am an active member of the American Legion Riders, Post 232, Polk City, IA. I would love to meet more Spyder riders and share some rides with them. I am also a GPS nut and have a National Database of over 10,000 points of interest, mostly historical markers and anything else of interest in Iowa. If there is enough interest in starting a Spyder Club in Iowa we can have a ride in some weekend and meet each other.

Just read this old thread. If you are still around, a small group of us are forming a Western Iowa/Eastern Nebraska chapter of Spyder Ryders of America. I live in Bellevue, NE but go to Council Bluffs a few times each week as I own a hotel there. Let me know if you have any interest. email me at:

Glenn Miller

Don't forget the Glenn Miller Museum and Library in Clarinda. Well worth seeing if you love good music.

Field of Dreams outside of Dyersville. They are building a new John Wayne museum in Winterset right around the corner from his boyhood home. Jesse James robbed a train outside of Adair. The Barrow gang (Bonnie and Clyde) got shot up at the old Dexter Park which is in between Dexter and Redfield. Des Moines has the Salisbury House, Terrace Hill (Governor's Mansion), Botanical Gardens among other points of interest. There is the Knoxville Speedway. There is a clock museum up NE in the Calmar area. The ride along the Mississippi River is great in the Fall. Tama and Osceola have casinos. Don't know if George the Chili King Drive-in is still on Hickman in DsM. Mt Pleasant has all the steam engines. The old prison in Anamosa gives tours. Don't know if the rodeo is still in Shenadoah, which is also the hometown of the Everly Brothers. Bob Fellows museum is in Van Meter. The original Hy-Vee general store is in Beaconsfield.
That is about all I can think of right now.

I'm from Des Moinse and was there 2 years ago and at that time the Chili King Drive-in was still there and as good as always. I plan on making it back there on my new F3 in June, long ways from Idaho but need to break the F3 in somehow.
