Spyder seat covers - Sheep Skin

We have been thinking of putting sheep skin seat covers on our 2014 RT-S. Before we do my wife had one question that I can't answer. She is wondering if you would slide or slip around on them, or if you would have no problem staying in place. I guess she is thinking about going through the twisties around here.

I use a combination sheepskin/gel pad type. Purchased from Alaska Leather. They have a strap system to keep them attached to the seat, but I never use the straps. They have a kind of rubberized bottom so the tendency is to not slide around on the seat.

I drive a lot of twisties--with good results.

Thanks AK!!! I need to be more specific. She worried about if she will slide around on the sheep skin. Not if the sheep skin will slide on the seat. We would want to buy ones that are strapped in place, so their staying in place should be no issue. What do you think about the question about her sliding around on the sheep skin?

No problem. I missed the technicality of sliding on the sheepskin, compared to the sheepskin sliding on the seat.

I do not think you will encounter any problem. A new sheepskin has plenty of plushness and it conforms to the contours of the bottom. You are going to be "in" the sheepskin more than "on" it. I have never felt like I was moving around once I was "planted" on the sheepskin. I can take most twisties at 20 above posted, but let common sense kick in and don't push the limits all the time.

My sheepskins are now going on 5 years old and I am thinking of replacing them with fresh ones come spring.

Sheep Skin

We have them on both of our RTs and have no problem at all , they are held on with three laces tied underneath . We bought them from Trevinos Leathers in South Dakota . I bought mine when we were riding in the Black Hills this summer , then my wife got one from him online , $99.00

My wife and I bought a sheep skin from a local sheep farm to use on our Harley five years ago. Never had a problem with it.

Same here. Purchased my sheepskin cover a few months ago. Plenty of plushness to keep from sliding. Cool in the summer, and warm in the winter.

It will be one of the best purchases you'll make.

Sheepskin Seat Cover

This is what I did with a sheepskin car cover that I removed from my 98 Nissan Altima. I removed the backing of the seat and reduced the size of the cover by removing the threads that held several of the pieces together and then I had a piece the was close to the sized that I required for the seat on my ST. I also have a AIRHAWK seat underneath the sheepskin. I laid out the sheepskin over the AIRHAWK and cut 4 slots in the sheepskin to match where the straps on the AIRHAWK are located. I then put the straps of the AirHawk thru each of the slots of the sheepskin. Thereby anchoring the sheepskin and the AIRHAWK to the seat. Please see the attached picture.:thumbup:

The only downside to a sheepskin cover... :shocked:

Not a problem

I have both the Mountain Mist Sheepskin....as well as the Alaska Leather Sheepskin/gel. Long ryding I use the Mt. Mist....local ryding I use the smaller Alaska.....Like the larger for long hauls as It keeps more area cooler (i.e. inside of legs, back) and sweat free (when ryding in 100' degrees) and warmer when ryding in below 45'). Highly recommend. :thumbup:
