• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Spyder Saved us today

We headed out on our 5 day 2000 mile New England tour this morning. 110 miles in on rte 209 north in Bushkill Park it happened. A deer (young buck) came out of the woods in a full run. I quickly steered into the oncoming lane. Strait away and no one was coming and we took a direct hit to the right front. hit the deer going about 45 or 50 mph.

There is no doubt in our minds that on a 2 wheeler we would have both been on the asphalt head first. Instead both of stayed on the Spyder and the only contact made was that the deer hit Sharons knee. She is just fine. The other good news is the Spyder was drivable so we cancelled our trip and found the shorteset ride home.

Damage is pretty extensive. Right front fender and bracket, plastic on the right side of the frunk, headlight, right side mirror, turn sgnal, saddle bag and bracket. The plastic on the right rear is damaged as well as the right side fender bracket is bent. Saddlebag was ripped off and was sliding down the asphalt. I had to secure it with a sock for the ride home.

 I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties...

...But SO glad that you are both able to tell the story! :2thumbs:

Bikes can be fixed or replaced... people can't!

Yikes, that would definitely be an attention-getter! So glad you're both okay, and very impressive that the Spydie was able to be ridden home. I agree 100% that if I must have a deer jump out in front of me, I'd rather be on 3 wheels than two!

Good news! Give yourself some credit for good driving, otherwise it could have been worse. Best wishes to Sharon for her knee to not sustain permanent deer hoof imprints. Too bad you had to cancel your trip.

Must be something in the air.... had a doe and her fawn run out in front of me today, in broad daylight!:yikes: But I did have enough time and room to actually stop. I was glad the lady driving the cage in the opposite lane saw me braking hard and come to a stop, 'cause if not, she would have plowed into the rear of the doe, and the fawn hot on its mother's rear, would probably have run into her car broadside. Glad you all are ok, and I hope there is a quick fix for your ride. Sometimes, we all get lucky when we need it.

Glad to hear it was just a close call to injury. The spyder can be repaired. Nice save with the sock!

This was about 11:30 in the morning! Almost lunch time. Funny how things work. I was following a tractor trailer for about 20 miles and I saw a nice pull off. So I decided to stop for a minute stretch our legs and let the truck get far away from us. If I would have kept following and not stopped this probably would not have happened. I was almost out of the park had about a mile or less, I was almost in New York.

I am glad you are both ok. How about the deer?

Deer not so good! That was his last leap. I think he passed away almost instantly.

Deer hit

So thankful you are both OK. Stuff like that happens and I think you are right if you'd been on a two wheeler. Just lost and acquaintance last year to a similar accident on his Harley.
