• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder RT brake location

Is it me or is anyone else finding that the OEM brake pedal on the RT Limited requires one to lift their foot and kind of bend the ankle forward in an awkward position to use the brake.

My ankle is getting a little irritated when driving in heavy traffic requiring much braking.

I know that there are some larger size brake pedals out there. Does this help or does the larger brake pedal get in the way during normal driving?

I also see that someone has designed a way to extend the brake location forward.

Any suggestions here?

Thanks.

TricLEDS sells the larger brake pedal that you're looking for...

We have the TriCled larger pedal on both our RT's. With the install of Seal Floorboards on the 2011, we added a brake pedal riser--making them about 3/4 " higher than standard.

An acquired move to hit the brake, but it is a learned muscle action now and no problem hitting the pedal each and every time needed. I have hip issues--but the above does not affect me or add any pain to the equation.

I could not get comfortable or easily reach the brake pedal with the stock RT seat. My first idea was to move the brake pedal forward and put a pad on the seat. I had a 3" pad made locally and that solved both the comfort and pedal problems. Worked for me.

I like the RT but at 6'2" I felt the same way as you do on a test drive. Could never feel comfortable working the brake in an emergency. Also felt very cramped. The hand brake seems like the only option I have seen. Maybe the cure is in the crate opening.

Once you get used to the foot pedal (And you will!); you look back at your reluctance, and wonder what the big deal was. :D

In my case, lack of full motion in a crushed femur ball will never get much better. So I had to move my butt up or the pedal forward. The pad fixed it.
