• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder questions??

Hi All,

Eventually looking to get a Spyder. What is the good, bad, and ugly on them. Should I avoid the early years? Would probably be the base model, just for affordability. Not too sure if buyng used would be good, unless the price is right. Or would new be better, just for warranty. Have a dealer 20 minutes away.

Thanks,

Will

It really depends on your budget. There are a number of slightly used :spyder:s all over eBay that are aggressively priced. Some of them are still under warranty and you could extend the warranty with BRP's BEST warranty. There are very small differences between the RS ('10) vs. the GS ('08 & '09).

Check with your dealer for left overs and you may be able to get a great deal on a new GS.

If you are interested in the RT, you may have to buy new unless you are willing to travel.

Once again, it really depends on how much you are willing to spend. You could purchase a used one and get more accessories or buy new and then spend more for the accessories.

I suppose price is important . . . You need to be assured you are not getting less for more . . .

But, it is far more important to ensure you have a relationship with a good dealer with good techs that is not too far away. You will be back over and over for parts and service.

I have never needed service beyond normal service intervals and installation of optional gear. But, one never knows . . .

Just one man's opinion . . .

- Dealer demos can be had fairly cheap and come with the full 2 year warranty just like when new. Demos will have from 800 to 1400 miles on average.

- Left over 09 models still in crate. Call around and find a dealer that has a left over 09 in stock that is new on the show floor or still in the crate. That is how I got a great deal on mine... If you want to see if you are getting a good deal... Get prices from three different dealers on the 2010 model. That will give you a good idea of who is willing to deal or not. You may also be able to leverage a left over 09 bid to get another dealer that does not have an 09 in stock to go cheaper on the 2010.

Just some ideas. :)

Not a big fan of buying someones troubles ! That said as long as it has a least 1 season of rideing left under warranty i would buy a good used one and save a bundle on it . A good selection of lightly used ones out there. Some already modified.:dontknow:

If I had not bought my 09 SE5 in Oct I would be hunting for the cheapest 09 leftover in a crate that I could find. Don,t pay Freight or Prep! :yikes:You should ONLY pay Spyder cost, Registration and Conveyance fee. nojokeThats ALL I ever paid on 14 different BRP products.:D
