• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

what does "Total Range of 600 KMS = 375 miles really mean?
is that per tank of gas?
is that when you need to recharge?
Scotty or someone help me out...hg is not here.....

my best edumicated guess is that it is when you need to refuel. they haven't released what the powercell will be, so not sure if it's like the Volt or the original prius. Total mileage would be when you have no choice but to refill everything.

SUPER BATTERY ?

I heard something last week on the radio about a hugh break-thru in Battery technology that will make even lithium -ion obsolete.....Will have to wait and see.....Mike....

Would love to see this as an RT touring version, fingers crossed.

You would have to way up the cost of the unit and fuel savings over the planned life of the machine.

I traded my Toyota Venza that used to get 22mpg to a Toyota prius V (wagon) now get 49mpg and it a nice ride. Love the savings in gas just for everyday trips to the store. Still have my RAM truck if I have to haul anything.

It says 50% more fuel efficiency - with less CO2 emission. It's a gasser! No?

Sure like the color - I do!

Using the combined gas and electric motors 600KM(375 miles) is the distance you can travel on one full tank of fuel before you have to stop for fuel.

375 miles could be accomplished with just putting in a larger fuel tank...:dontknow: So this thing will tip the scales at 40k to go an extra 100 miles? Mr Orange does that for a couple of grand..or so..

The hybrid Spyder roadster is a plug-in hybrid vehicle that will be equipped an electric motor, lithium-ion battery and the Rotax Advanced Combustion Efficiency (ACE) engine. This engine is the same used in BRP’s 2011 Ski-Doo snowmobiles, and with 29 mpg, BRP claims it is the most fuel-efficient engine in the snowmobile industry.

At the Maggie Valley owners event the BRP rep said the Hybrid would get around 80 miles to the gal of gas. And it is a system like the Toyota Prius. In other words you just add gas to the small gas motor which then drives a bigger electic motor and the bike. Maybe it's changed now as its still in development.

That's not how it's going to work... and that isn't how a Prius works. The gas engine on the Prius does directly drive the wheels... actually all 3 motors in the Prius drive the same planetary power split device thus they all drive the wheels.

You may be thinking of the Chevy Volt.. which is 100% electric motor driven... with the gas engine acting like a generator.

I believe the Hybrid Spyder will be driven by both the gas and electric motors... NOT a gas generator.

It's supposed to have the same performance as the RS.

We were interested in the RT Hybrid, also. :ohyea: The possibility of refueling less often was intriguing. When we asked the designers/engineers that were at the Owner's Event how soon we could expect to see one, they all looked a bit sheepish :opps:and said we'd be waiting for another few years...
