• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Group - in the Buffalo/Rochester area?

I haven't seen an official group. But I know of a few riders in this area.

How do we get one started? It seems our area doesn't fit in any of the regional forums.
Lots of spyders in the southern tier or as I call it Extreme Western New York.

Since the local dealer doesn't care to help organize a group, I ended up joining the Gold Wing group, has 2 other Spyder riders and now I'm the web master. It's an option.

That's a thought...

Never thought to check in with the local dealers. There are three spyder dealers within 1 hour of here. I'll put it on my to do list to check with them and see if they know of any groups, or would be interested in putting one together.

There is an active BMW/European and other group in the greater Buffalo NY area. There are a 3-4 Spyders in this group. BMW Riders Club of Western NY. Well, maybe we can organize a Spyder Ride this year. Jim

Sounds great! Count me in. Come to think about it, Bucks Motorsports is just west of Batavia and about halfway between us. Might be a nice meetup location. It's only a 30 minute ride for me.

Anyone up for a Spring ride for Rochester/Buffalo area?

None of the local dealers seem to be interested in sponsoring or even helping to form a rider group. I have asked a few if we could send letters/email to past customers. It's a matter of customer privacy (as I would expect).

This forum is probably the best chance of bringing folks together. I am willing to help organize a kick-off ride once the nice weather hits. Maybe a trip down and back around one of the lakes. We might be able to post flyers at the dealerships to try to get some momentum going. If we set a date now, it will give us a better chance to get other riders as they visit the dealers for spring maintenance.

The two dealers I visit often are Filer's (Macedon) and Bibbens (Weedsport). I also run by Cortland a few times a month.

Thoughts?

Hi April 07, 2021
Bringing my Spyder in from Florida to Rochester. Any riding groups or interested parties in riding?

I think "Joel The Biker" lives in the Binghamton area, and he knows how to dis-able the DESS module too! He did mine a few years ago and I couldn't be happier ... Mike

Indeed but I didn't see a newer one and meant my post as a lighthearted attempt to check again without making a whole new post. Sorry.

No need to apologise! That's a good move, and exactly what you should've done!!

Usually, as is most likely in this case, the 'Old Post' thing is more of a reminder that it IS an old thread you're responding to (cos many never check/just don't seem to realise! ) and so you shouldn't expect too many replies from people with Red or Grey usernames, nor even from those with Blue usernames who have a 'Last Activity Date' recorded on their profile that's anything much more than a year or so ago!
