• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

FESTIVAL CAMPING

Has any body made reservations at the fair grounds yet? I called there a couple of weeks ago and was told it was to early. I left my phone number with them but, have not heard anything.
I wouldn't count on hearing from them. I think they charge $ 25.00 per night, they allowed early arrivals and extra days after ...... I don't think all the available spaces were filled last year ..... Maybe someone from Mo-gang who lives in Springfield can keep tabs on this for ALL of us ( on Spyderlovers ) who might be interested ....... jmho..... Mike

I stayed at the Fairgrounds campground the last two years. The good is that it is close to all the activities, the area is all grass, and many of the vendors stay there. The bad is there aren't very many spots that are tent only, i.e., no power or sewer. I don't remember for sure but I think Mike is right on the $25 price, but that is without hookups. If you want power it's $10/night additional, I believe. Also, the shower and restrooms are maybe 500 ft or so from the campground and are not very modern. Think rodeo crowd. It doesn't take very many campers taking showers to run out of hot water. There are no camper oriented service facilities there such as propane refilling service. As far as communication camping is a service the Fairground offers more or less out of necessity for rodeo activities. It's definitely not a core function. They treat it as such.

I haven't stayed at the Springfield KOA but I have at others. The good with KOA is they do of course cater to campers so have the full array of camper services. Restroom/shower facilities are most likely to be quite nice. Checking their web site their rates are hardly any more than the Fairgrounds. The negative is KOA is about 10 miles from the Fairgrounds.

If being close to Spyderfest activities is a high priority then stay at the Fairgrounds. If being treated as a primary reason they exist, and distance is not an issue, stay at KOA, or maybe some other campground.

I think the KOA would be good in you have an RV. But for tenting or staying on one of their cabins, you'll be disturbed at all hours by the trains going by right next to the campground.

I just looked on the Allstays.com web site as well as Google maps. When it comes to tent camping one is pretty much SOL other than the Fairgrounds and KOA in the Springfield vicinity.

We stayed at the fairgrounds last year and it worked out well for us. Would like to do the same this year.
