• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Code Blue

My 2014 RTL coded on me Sunday after I washed it. DESS Amber Key Failure Notice. Would not start regardless of what I did. Tried both keys and moving it around and everything else I could think of. Pushed it into the garage and the next morning it started up and I immediately took it to the dealer. They said that they have experienced other 2014's that they had replace the ignition switches on and in fact one was sitting in front of mine to have the same thing done to it. The replaced the ignition switch the very next day (knowing I was going on vacation with the Spyder on Friday) and everything seems to be working again. I've read a bit about the DESS module needing changed out also but they stated that it was a switch problem and not the DESS module. Hoping this is correct and that the problem is fixed. Headed from Southern Utah to Lake Tahoe on Friday for a week worth's of riding time. How could the switch have changed so much from one year to another as to cause problems like this. Shouldn't the dealers be calling the owners to advise them of the issue and do a recall before it causes a bigger problem. Like leaving me stranded out in the middle of the desert with no cell service and no water. Great dealership here in St. George Utah. They always go the extra mile to take care of me. This trip will put me at the 3,000 mile first service point.

Not to worry..!!

once they change that switch you are good to go. Don't know why, security I guess, they changed the whole system. Before you could clone your key and get spares at a decent price but now you are at their mercy...:banghead: but it is a chip to ignition switch issue...

"BRP customer support - SUCKS... they wait for you to break down .. instead of notifying customers before hand.."

:hun: BRP has a spot on their website, where you can punch in your Bile's VIN, and see what might need to be addressed...
Did you get a Crystal Ball, when you bought your last car? :dontknow:

I have the same DESS code (see my post What with this Code). Waiting for the antenna senor to come in. I went to the BRP site to check my VIN # for recall and my had none.

Cookies

Picked my Spyder up this morning and rode it straight home. Only about 5 miles but long enough to get it warm. I then duplicated the actions I took just before it coded on me, nice hand wash and dry. Started right up. Just wanted to make sure that it didn't have anything to do with water getting somewhere it shouldn't have. Looks like I will be riding in the rain one day next week in Tahoe. Looks like the dealer got it fixed and hoping for no more problems. Took my dealer a dozen cookies for jumping right on it and getting me fixed up so I could go on vacation. St. George Utah Dealer rocks.

I keep hearing this about Service Bulletins, but the only thing I ever find is for SAFETY Recalls and not Service Bulletins. :dontknow:
