• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Availability

There is an outfit called C.M. Sports in Minnesota that has 15 new spyders in stock if anyone is interested.

Just a comment.... This refers to the availability of the SM5 Spyder Roadster in general.

As I read various entries, it seems that there is no problem with availability of SM5 Roadsters. Some people are quoting quick fulfillment of their orders 1-2 weeks, others are finding bikes on show room floors just waiting to be ridden off.

And it occurs to me that perhaps the rumors are true that the SE5 will be starting production soon if not already this week as somebody had mentioned since there are plenty of SM5's out there.

Unfortunately, I seem to twist and mold every comment into a reason why I shouldn't have much longer to wait for my SE5. Sorry if this seems to be the case. BUT THE WAIT IS ABOUT TO KILL ME. Especially, with all these good riding days of summer passing by. I told my wife that I would be unbearable till it arrives, (especially after I took my first demo ride on a Spyder in June).

Got to go now, it's time for my mediation..... :joke:

The Spyder is very over priced and dealers have been marking them up way beyond reason. I bought one and enjoyed it before selling it but I think the way CAN AM is releasing them has created a false hype especially once the dealer puts a certain level of greed into making a profit. I think between CAN AM, dealers, and the economy they have actually killed a few peoples dreams of owning a Spyder with no special financing and over pricing. Here is the cost of a Spyder broken down for those who really want to know.

Full Moon Color SM5

Dealer net: $12399

Hold back: $795

Dealer invoice: $13174

MSRP: $15499

If you are smart enough to do the math there is a $2500 profit before the dealer even marks it up and so forth. Alot of dealer are trying to charge $2500 for setup, shipping, and so forth which leads to almost a $6000 dollar profit.

20% on MSRP is not excessive...

.

Not sure where you got those figures from but from looking at them, 2 plus 2 doesn't equal four !!

This is what I come up with....
Dealer invoice $13,174 deducting the holdback (5% of MSRP paid at end of model year to dealer) of $795 =$12,379 dealer net (their actual cost)

MSRP $15,499 minus dealer net cost $12,379 = $3120 profit on sale which, as stated earlier is about a 20% markup. The markup in itself is not excessive, but when "price adjustments", stealer fees, freight and setup etc are added on the price can quickly become a rip-off !
