kinda both:dontknow:The sputtering you are talking about is in the begining on 1st and 2nd gear? I am having that problemas well.
I did the same thing about a month ago, exhaust got kind of loud (stock exhaust), and found out that the right side gasket had blown. Ordered replacements and fixed it.Every now and then I experience a delay or sputter.
Today I lit up the tires and heard a loud backfire as well.
Anyone know what this could be from.
I have 22k and have replace my exhaust gasket at 12k...could this be another one?
Stock exhaust or aftermarket? What brand? Any other performance mods?I did the same thing about a month ago, exhaust got kind of loud (stock exhaust), and found out that the right side gasket had blown. Ordered replacements and fixed it.
Now I have a new problem. Two weeks ago, pulled out from a stop sign, :spyder:stumbled, and the check engine message came up. Pulled over, shut the bike off, and re-started. All seemed to be O.K. Now, if I am riding at a steady rate, I can feel a slight stumble and even a small backfire. If I give it gas, it pulls like normal. Wierd. Only about 6k on her.
Scotty, got any ideas?:dontknow:
Engine wise, all stock. No power adders. It's at the local dealer as of Saturday. The service writer said that they have had several with fouled plugs. First time I had heard that. It hasn't been to a dealer since I bought it a year ago. Do my own oil changes/mods. I hope I haven't opened a keg of worms. The dealer hasn't been too frendly cause I didn't buy it there. (first post without a :thumbupStock exhaust or aftermarket? What brand? Any other performance mods?

I have a Hindle installed. I notice when I let off the throttle for an extended period and then accelerate, I will get one or two loud "POP" s and then a bit of hesitation. Nothing really bothersome, tho.

I just got off the phone w/ a dealer who stated that the bike shouldn't sputter because of the fuel injection and odds are its the valves. He informed that the valves usually need to be adjusted at 8k and 12k, and mine's right at 12k so that makes sense.
hope that helps!

:agree: Dealer is unscrupulously trying to drum up unneeded service business.Personally, I'd be more than a little concerned about your dealer. I'm not sure I've ever heard of one needing valves adjusted that early... particularly the "usually..." part.
