• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spring loaded trunk

Buy a 1/4" or 3/8" spring nut. You can get one at any Lowes, Home Depot, or any wholesale electrical supply house. They cost a buck, maybe.

Blurry pictures, sorry.

Next, remove the spring from the cast nut.

Place sprint over latch stem, and seat with ordinary "non hardening" silicone. There is no lateral pressure to move the spring so silicone will hold it just fine.

I'd put this on EBAY, but it'd be like selling money making ideas...a ripoff.

Or just do this!

This mod works great and only cost me 50 cents! It should have been OEM! It fits perfectly down INSIDE so it's not visible like the other spring mods.

Before anyone says anything, I need to take a picture, but I put a couple of springs on my on either side of the trunk latch. Meant drilling a couple of holes, but it works well. I tried just one and decided to add the second to get it pop open a bit easier.

Humm I would love to do this to my trunk. Such a simple idea to solve such an annoying little thing as popping the trunk. I went looking at HD for a spring and could not find one. Anyone point me in the right direction?

ACE Hardware, ACO, or any other good hardware store. They should have a #155 spring in their spring assortment.

PM me with your address and I'll send you one. Once you get it and verify it works for you, you can reimburse me for the postage. FYI, the last batch of these I sent out cost about $1.25 to mail.
