• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spider helmet

:welcome:to the forum.

The spider design is pretty neat--but I would not feel comfortable trusting my head to a $59.95 helmet. That is a really basic helmet.

That company is also very mercenary on postage and shipping.

They lost a large order from me (leather pants, leather jacket) when they tried to charge me $150 for shipping to Alaska. Did not order the items and have not ordered anything from them since.

Have found many other places to buy m/c related items.

Any suggestions on where to go for gear? Nothing better than word of mouth from a satisfied customer.
I've been starting to look for gear since i will need helmet/gloves/boots/jacket for the motorcycle safety course. I do like supporting my local shops, but can't really afford over $1000.00 to gear up.

Thanks in advance

Motorcycle Superstore is my main "go to" place on the internet. They have everything. They have 95% of it in stock. They ship usually within 24 hours. Their shipping is very reasonable. The graciously accept returns.

I also shop locally whenever I can--even though the prices are a bit higher.

Try Barb at Alaska Leather. $399 for a basic black leather, gear set up. Jacket, Chaps, Gloves, & Boots. They have an internet site where you can get the phone number.

Tell her I told you about it. Have fun with your course. Keep us posted what happens.

We use DennisKirk...it helps that they are just the highway from us. They carry tons of stuff and have their outlet store items available in the internet too.

i have used LeatherUp.com for 2 jackets, 4 pair of gloves, 1 pr boots, and 4 zandannas. for a total of 3 orders if i remember correctly.
i have had two item exchanges (no problem - gloves and jacket wrong sizes) and 1 item wear out early (no problem they refunded as soon as i called - 1 glove wore out FAST).

BUT if you a lot of their stuff is cheap because it is not the highest quality. if you want great prices on average (and sometimes below average product) this is definitely the site to use. i have not bought any of their "high end" gear and so cannot talk about it. also i would never order helmets online. they may look great, but i want to buy a helmet from a person and place i know. having had friends in crashes i want to know where to go for replacements and never have to wait for stuff to get ordered/shipped.

Cycle Gear sometimes has good sales but for most items i think they are a little pricey. i have a local Cycle Gear so i have never checked out their web prices.

Well, tried to do the "save some money" and get it online way. Made an order with leatherup.com last week and received my stuff today:yikes: Bought a helmet, gloves, jacket, and pants. Now im not a small guy by any means, but something is way off with the sizing on their stuff.

XL gloves: couldn't even get my hand in them
XL helmet: couldn't even start to get it on my head
3XL Jacket: sleeves about 2 inches short, really tight across shoulders, about 2 inches short in length as well
pants: actually fit pretty well but were missing the right knee pad

Looks like im sending it all back for a refund and driving down to the local motorcycle shop to purchase what i need. Hopefully he'll need some plumbing work done and we can barter ;)
Not going to play the send it back 3 or 4 times until i get the right size game with leatherup

I own a few things LeatherUp. Always been happy with their prices and their shipping. Product quality and sizing has been pretty good, but have had a couple of misfires.

Really, my two favorite run-around jackets are their Xelement brand, no complaints, they fit me fine, better even then the next class of brands up (in my book, I count Joe Rocket/Firstgear/Fieldsheer in that category). I plan on investing more $$ next year to get better gear, but I'm happy enough with them for now (especially at their prices).

For my online shopping, pretty much an equal toss-up between them, Motorcycle Superstore, and Revzilla-- the latter's prices can get a little steep, but they run some great deals on a quality selection, and their customer service is first rate.
