• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Speed Painting

Cool. ..

Saw him somewhere before and he is fast and the upsidedown thing is what really throws you...:2thumbs:

Wow, I was totally thinking it was a dead chicken till he flipped it over.

I wonder if it's somehow the way they perceive or visualise the world that makes this possible?? We've had a few people here in Aus do that sort of stuff (altho I don't think any were quite as fast) but invariably, they finished the painting upside down before flipping it so viewers could make sense of it!! A couple could even start from a few random daubs of paint splashed on the canvas & then in just a couple of minutes add enough ain't to make a very realistic painting - that had to be turned the right way up for viewers to recognise it!! (Rolf Harris was one of those!! :opps: )

But how much does the upside down bit have to do with it all? Is that why they can be fast, or is that a whole 'nuther skill?? There was an experiment (or series of experiments) where people wore lenses glasses ALL the time that turned all they saw upside down - disorienting for a few days but by about 10 days, in all the experiments I've seen reports of, it took about 10 days of upside down viewing for their brains to 're-wire' themselves so that the upside down view became 'normal' & they could function normally in every respect; read, write, drive a car, cook, make a cup of coffee, they could do it despite their view being inverted!! But sadly, no-one ever seems to have tested them off this type of 'speed painting'!!

Now I can read & type, write legibly upside down or mirror image, even drive a car backwards at speed thru an obstacle course without issue, but I'll be damned if I can do that sort of 'speed painting' (or any painting that good!?) So I wonder what it is, & how the way they perceive/visualise their proposed painting beforehand translates onto the canvas?? :hun:

Just wondering out loud (well, on the screen anyway?! ;) )

Peter, we both know that we downunders have an advantage. After all we automatically change every picture we see from the northern hemisphere haha remember mr squiggle? Think this artist learnt from him??

Yeah, I remember Mr Squiggle!! :D But I didn't use him as an example, only cos I was pretty sure that at least of the Northern hemisphere SpyderLovers recognise the name 'Rolf Harris' even if they didn't remember him for anything outstanding (or less recent than the latest news! :opps: ) I wasn't sure too many at all would have any idea about who/what Mr Squiggle was, or anything about his amazing talents with his nose!! (or his friends.... Hurry Uuup, Hurrrry Uuuup! ) And he NEVER turned his own drawings up the right way either, he always got Miss Jane (or Miss Gina, or Miss Pat!) to do all that sort of stuff!! ;)

Who knows, maybe the bloke in the linked vid is a Mr Squiggle Devotee or Disciple?! After all, there are a lot of commonalities in their painting/drawing styles?!
