There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Spare connector under the coolant cap access panel???

I have a 2014 RT-S. I'm looking to hook up an aftermarket GPS and need to find power. I found an unused 2 conductor connector just inside the right black cover under the frunck lid. It's the one that has a picture of the coolant tank cap and computer/mouse embossed into it. Anyway, I was wondering what this connector would usually be used for? I'm sure it was put there to some accessory but, I looked through a tech manual/wiring diagram and cannot find to what. Perhaps it's where the computer attaches?? ..for service/diagnosis? ....or maybe it's spare 12VDC power (I HOPE!). Any help would be appreciated!

I should add.....

If anyone knows a convenient spot to pick up both switched and unswitched 12VDC that is close to the center of the handlebar....I would be very interest to know. Again 2014 RT-S. Thank you for your time and consideration in advance.

I'd go into the fuse box or straight battery. Tampering with any connectors and you can make the computer mad at you (Nanny).

I have to disagree with going into the fuse box on 2013 and 14s. The fuse boxes are exposed to a lot of water. BRP has already tried to seal them better with new covers and application of liquid tape on the 2013s.

Doc does the one for the solenoid have a green wire and a grey with a black stripe?

A pic would help. Also the Garmin from BRP hooks up in the rear of the bike near the radio. That is where I would run the GPS.

I wired my TomTom up to the fuel gauge, using these directions http://www.knarfoh.com/GPS_INSTALL/gps_install.html works with the key. Scroll down the page after the GPS mounting directions you will find how to run the wires and where to connect them. My cell phone charger I ran from the warning card slot down to the battery that took a bit more time to find the path for the wire. Hope that helps

This is the correct picture/Thanks Doc...

Yes. The green wire is 12vdc from the switch and the gray wire is ground.

Found this last week end while hooking up my GPS to the audio system. Wasn't this a nice freebee.

Front plug IDs

So, the connecter I was speaking of...is the one labeled here on the picture as "Trunk Solenoid Connector". My trunk has the remote release option and also has the connector with the white plugs as pictured. Is the part with the white plugs a "loop" connector which when installed makes the solenoid work?? I would think there would be wires leaving (where the white plugs are) and going to said solenoid. Just curious but, I digress.... So does anyone know if there is a spot on the factory harness (near the handlebars) where the GPS gets power on the RT-Limited? If not, and it's not suggested to go to the fuse box....any other suggestions? Remember...this is a 2014/different engine/different configurations/etc. Thanks all for the replies.

Thanks to all...

I spoke with Doc this afternoon and he set me straight. I was confused....(not unusual) and calling the "manual key switch operated trunk release" the "remote trunk release". I didn't get that one was cable and one was electrical. The later of which, mine does NOT in fact have. Again, thank you all for your help and replies.

You don't say what kind of GPS you're using, and what the power into it is. Will you be running 12 volt line directly into the GPS? Or do you plan to install a 12 volt outlet and use a USB charger to power your GPS? If you're using USB you'll have some serious issues. Get back and I'll explain further. If you're going 12 volt to the GPS then you're in good shape.
