• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Had a nice Spyder ride today viewing the shuttles last trip. 10 miles from the VAB to the visitors center where it will rest forever.

:2thumbs: How many shuttles were in the fleet when they pulled the plug?

Four.

Atlantis
will be on display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, near Cape Canaveral, Florida. It was delivered to the Visitor Complex on November 2, 2012.

Discovery was delivered to the Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. on April 19, 2012.

Endeavour was delivered to the California Science Center in Los Angeles, California on October 14, 2012.

Enterprise (atmospheric test orbiter), was on display at the National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center but was moved to New York City's Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in mid-2012

Thank you. I'm currently staying at Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral. We get awesome views of rocket launches here from our back patio of the toy hauler. But we do miss the shuttle launches.

:agree::agree:

it is going to be awfully quiet now that the Shuttles have been shelved

the occasional SpaceX launch will be nice, but its not going to be the same not feeling the ground shake.........

final shuttle launch as seen from my brothers boat

The first time I saw a shuttle it was 33 years ago at the Space Center Visitors area. I remember being disappointed because I thought it was going to be atop the transport plane that had brought it to Florida but it wasn't. I lived on the Space Coast for 5 years in the 90s and I never missed watching a launch. It was sad to see the program end.

I will be visiting my father-in-law in Febuary and will have to stop by and have another visit at Kennedy. He lives about a mile down the beach from Jetty Park.

Thanks for the offer!

Give me a shout when you are in the area.

Will have to do that. I wish I had my Spyder with me but no such luck. I took my step mom who lives in Winterhaven for a ride and all she kept saying was "I got to get me one of these!". Would love to ride around FL for a day, winter here in N. Illinois limits riding. I did ride 2 hours last winter to have breakfast with Phil when he was visiting Chicago and had a great time.

I remember it well and thank you again for doing that! It meant a lot!
