• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sorry about that gang...did you miss us?

Today was not a good server day for me. All my bike sites went down around 11:30pm last night and we didn't get them back for about 12 hours. Turns out I had two hard drives fail, the main one and the backup. Good thing they had another backup on the server so now that seems to be fine.

About the same time SpyderLovers went down. This is on a server on the other side of the country and has nothing to do with my bike sites. This became more of a problem because there was a load on cpanel that was causing it to crash. When my server guy got it up and running he left thinking all was good. When I started to shoot him emails that it went down again there was nothing he could do till he got back to the office. Turns out that was about an hour ago.:(

On a positive note the site is growing. I checked my analytics and SpyderLovers has grown 52% in the last 30 days traffic wise :doorag: and that has caused even more load on the server. Not like this is a huge site but it is shared with another good size site and between the two of them it pulls pretty hard on the server we have now. Looks like we will do another upgrade and hope that keeps us going for a while.

I got a ton of emails and a few phone calls and I am truly sorry for the downtime and I wish I could say it will never happen again but I can't. All I can do is deal with it when it happens and make adjustments where needed. Cross your fingers that it will be good for a while longer now.

I can appreciate your frustration, but I'll be one of the first to say, no apology is necessary.

Thanks (again) for all your efforts on our behalf.

Well, I for one did miss ya, and every one else here. Glad you are up and running again. Thanks for all you do for us !!!!

Like so many others here I've missed the site, but growing pains are a good sign sometimes. If more and more quality folks are joining the site and it continues to grow then that's a good thing.:2thumbs:

:agree: I missed the site also. But working on computers all day and being a system administrator myself, I completely understand. Thanks for everything. I have no idea what I would do without this sight. :yikes::banghead: (yep.. looks about right)

You give us a value and a friendship that goes way beyond the bits and bytes.
We appreciate all you do here for all of us ..

Thanks for the work, Lamont. Sorry about the email but last time this happened to me, it was on my end... with my ISP.

Thanks again!

Not a problem. I was on the other line and that's why I didn't pick up when you called. But hey, how websites do you know of where you can pick up the phone and call the webmaster? :doorag:

I miss it too; but completely understand that we are really growing and the spyder web is strong and from time to time needs a little repair. Lamont you are a great leader and friend to all you have no need to apologize for anything.

Love this site. :2thumbs:

I haven't been here long and i don't know how you do it. It's been a long time since i have seen a site run this well. Speaking for myself and i'm sure also others no apology is nessesary. Thank-you for everything you do. Keep up the good work.

No need for apology. You put out a huge effort, especially for a voluntary one. If you need monetary assistance with a new server or whatever, just say the word. This is almost the best thing I ever did for free!

Figured you were doing some upgrades last night, when I couldn't get in today, withdrawal set in. You're doing a better job for us than I've seen anywhere else, thank you.
