• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sore butt and medication?

Anyone ever pre medicate themselves with an ant-inflammatory type of over the counter drug before starting on a day long trip? My passenger gets a painful buttock in the stock RT rear set even when using a AirHawk cushion. I remember IronButt 1000 riders talking about starting to take medicine the day before to alleviate pain....mind you those guys might not be the most sane people out there. Suggestions?

I have air hawk and it works great. Too much in it is just as bad on the butt a stock seat. Mine looks like there is no air in it where set properly.

Have a saddle made to fit. RDL, Laam, etc. not sore after 12 hour days, 3 and 4 at a time.

Agree with above-air hawk shouldn't be full of air. Adjust until the right setting. My looks pretty low also. Try a "trucker's seat pad" it's purple and looks hideous but I am told, it does the job.

I've tried wheelchair cushions, inflatable hemorrhoid donuts, gel pad...none worked.

Got one of those on TV where it's a blue honey comb, they put an egg on it and a fat guy sits on it and the egg doesn't break.

I'm in heaven.

I got two of Motorcycle Dave’s gel pads for the wife and myself and they have helped tremendously in the search for a cure for TB (Tired Butt). I do take a daily dose of Aleve for my arthritis and I’m sure it helps with all the pains associated with riding a motorcycle.

Yes.
But start out with the recommended dose.
I use generic Aleve.
One tablet about an hour before helps me a lot.
My doctor said I could take 2 if needed.

Note: I find that I sleep MUCH better if I take one an hour before bed time.
And I wake up with fewer "stiffness" pains.

A sore butt in one thing. A sore tailbone is another. 1st of all determine which it is. If it is a tailbone, then you really need to have the foam trimmed in the seat to stop a pressure point.

Geep, Yes, even though many Iron Butt riders and other long haul drivers do take Aleve or equivalents before and during long haul days, many, many Iron Butt cyclists have custom seats and or add-ons like the Air Hawk, my preference the Bead Rider, and others stock seat modifiers.

MotorCycle Dave, Sponsor here on SL does have the additional DIY stock seat improvement option as well, using a medical grade foam used for preventing bedsores and the like, and I think he's having a sale right now for SL members.

And if you have butt burn from heat - moisture, try adding a sheep skin seat cover to motorcycle seat for air circulation under your butt. Or Monkey Butt powder for butt burn relief if thats the case.
