• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

this may be more appropriate for the tech thread but I'll try here anyway.

I just finished my first round of mods for my spyder. leo vince exhaust, race airflow intake, a juicebox, and the swaybar. I didn't realize how feul starved the stock map is until i lit up the juicebox.

Now I'm ready to start the suspension. My questions are the following:

1. Fronts Penske or Elka ?

2. Rear Elka/Penske vs. Kewlmetal Air Shock.

3. Weight balance Anyone put their Spyder on scales Yet.

4. Tires Softest compound rear available and variation of size around stock that can be used?

5. Front wheel adapters I would like to put wider fronts on preferably the same 225 as the rear

Look for the threads Lamont has posted about his new Elka set up. He speaks very highly of them so far.

I think it was Doc that had his on the scale before and for some reason 822 lbs keeps coming to mind.

Quite a few people are using the Toyo TR1 tire, and like it alot.

There was another person who posted a thread on here with wheel adapters and I think he put 17 inch tires on the front.
 
Penske shocks

After doing some research I'm going with Penske shocks.

$2250 for the set plus shipping.

They are high quality racing shocks the fronts are preload and rebound adjustable and the back has low and high speed compression, rebound,preload and ride height adjustments.

They are custom made when you order them and are setup for your weight ( 160) and driving style ( like I stole it). I looked on their web site and they are a class act, catering primarily to the pro racing scene.

When I asked about weight I was more interested in distribution, weight on each wheel. With the ride height adjustment on the penskes I should be about to move it around.

The next step is trying to get wider rubber on the front. 225's all the way around would be my goal and no front fenders for that open wheel racing look.

If you are going with the Penske's you might want to check with these guys. They have the sway bar as well and are running a special.

Weight Distribution

I am also interested in the weights, front and rear, of the Spyder since I'm going to be trailering it. I'd like to know if I need to be concerned about where I set it on the trailer. Some one implied on this board that there was more weight on the front and I can believe that, especially after seeing how easily I could spin the rear on curves that had been sanded. A little 'woo hoo' in the hairpins a couple weeks ago.

Maybe we'll get some one to run over a scale soon.
