• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Some people should not handle weapons..

 Agreed! Handling firearms carries with it a tremendous responsibility. Anybody who is instructing a new shooter in the handling of an unfamiliar firearm has to be even MORE careful about preventing just these sort of events! :lecturef_smilie:
Now that I'm off the soapbox; I did have my Son shooting my .375 JDJ Handcannon when he was 10... under strict supervision!

That one person in the video where the gun kept going off as they were falling, was very scary.:shocked:

:agree::yikes: This kind of stuff is why we keep getting crucified in the press... :gaah: If folks would treat firearms with the respect that they demand; it would make life a lot easier for all of us gun owners! :lecturef_smilie:

(Treat the muzzle like there's a lazer attached to it that will cut a hole through anything that it touches!)

That looks like a Thompson Contender...

That's the basis for it... I had SSK Industries build me the .375 barrel (A .444 Marlin necked-down for the .375 projectiles...)
It throws a 220 grain pill out of the 14" barrel at 2350fps, and will pitch a 300 grainer at 2000...:2thumbs:
It's the most fun gun that I own!

That sounds fantastic, you should get a really big holster made and ride your RT around with it strapped repeatedly to your leg! Now to get a DOT helmet that looks like a cowboy hat...

It's equipped with a sling... I wear it under my hunting coat when I'm not in the woods... don't want to upset the non-hunting public... :gaah:

Pending your state the right to openly bare arms is 100% legal. It happens to be that way where I live, and I have openly carried (and concealed thanks to my permit) in the area, some people get unnerved, but I still remember the days when here in the south you couldnt swing a dead cat without hitting a truck with 2 shotguns on the rack in the back window.

side note: "OH hey, over 50 posts"

I agree one-hundred percent with you; the right to carry it however you want to should have no restrictions. I just figure that discretion can often be the better part of valor...

War story from my leather store days. A man comes in looking for some leather to make a new holster for his gun. Pulls out the longest barrel pistol (what I believe to be a Thompson Contender) I have ever seen--from a shoulder holster. He almost took his nose off pulling it out of the holster.

Looking back: humorous but scarry. I believe he would have had a problem had he needed the gun fast.

He caught us by surprise, but fortunately no mishaps or problems.

Sidearms like these really don't work well with holsters; shoulder or otherwise! They're too bulky, too heavy, and too slow to draw... That's why I've got sling swivels on mine! :2thumbs: They work better if you treat them like short carbines...
The biggest sidearm I'll carry daily in a holster is my 1911A1... in a Galco S.O.B.!
(Well... My Super Redhawk does live in a shoulder rig...) :opps:

I carry my Bersa Thunder Ultra Compact 40 in a cross draw holster. I also have a PT22 I carry in an ankle holster as a drop gun.

A few years back when I was at conceal carry class, there was a female attorney attending. When we got to the range she pulled out a .40 Desert Eagle in a tactical shoulder holster. It was clear she had no idea how to handle that weapon when she couldn't even pull the slide back. As if that wasn't bad enough, the thing was loaded and she was waving it around around trying to pull the slide. The instructor grabbed it and let her have an earfull. I don't know if she passed as I left after qualifying. She had to wait for an open target.
