• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bought a wrecked 2010 re se5 from insurance. Been sitting since 2015. Just got it back on the road.

1. Dealer suggested a software update $60ish. Should I or not?
If so, any perceived issues I need to be aware of?

From personal experience I ....Hate dealers ..... However $60.00 is very reasonable ....and there were quite a few corrections that were made by BRP regarding the V-twins and associated computer alterations ..... so IMHO , I'd try and find out what pertained to your Spyder and wheteher some or all of them have been done .......... PS, concerning the VALVE checking thing ..... quite a few members have reported going 100,000 mi. WITHOUT any Valve adjustments ....BRP claime this NEEDS to be done every 14,000 +/- miles ....PPS the dealer will charge you about $600 to $800 to do it ......Mike

I would....

I would have all the updates done and whiile they are there they can see all the codes that have popped up during it's life before you. After that you can do it all yourself..:thumbup:safe

Bingo, bingo on the valve checks. I was an early beta tester. Did the required @ 12K on my 2008--no adjustment needed. Did one at 28K on my 2010--no adjustment needed. They did not put a new gasket in. It leaked over the winter. They had to fix on their dime in spring. Both cost $800 plus.

I have also suggested that some dealers charge for it and do not touch a wrench, knowing full well that most do not need any adjustment.

My 2011 is going to wait until 50K before I even "think" about another valve check.
