• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The part you are pointing to is a cap and doesn't appear to add any structure to the mirror. Go to www.cheapcycleparts.com and look under "body and accessories - windshield" and you can see the exploded view of the mirror assembly. (I find their website to be easier to look at than the can-am.brp.com page)

A temp fix

I'm a DIY'er, and it appears the ARM itself is OK......it's the TAB / COVER that is broken......My 08 GS and 11 RSS didn't have that cover so in 14 it was added.............My suggestion is to try tightening the TORX BOLT first.......if that doesn't work , since the TAB is junk anyway just screw a piece of sheet metal onto it , of a size that won't let the MIRROR ARM go to far forward ........This should work until you can get an official BRP part.......................good luck.....Mike :bbq:

I think Mikes right , it would be worth tightening that torx bolt as that may be the real reason the mirror is moving now. On my 2011 I've had to tighten the bolt a couple of times because it's vibrated loose, always on that side strangely enough.

That part is designed to break beyond a certain pressure for the same reason as car mirrors will:
  • It causes less damage to a pedestrian if you hit one by allowing the mirror to give way.
  • It prevents more major damage to the main bodywork, frame etc if it hits something

Looking at Spyder Ann's link they are only about $8 anyway so not an expensive fix:-)
