• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Anyone have any feedback on the Smoothspyder adjustable backrest?
I was thinking of getting the large passenger backrest and the driver one from BRP, but this one would be much less expensive. I would never use them both at the same time anyway as when the wife rides with me she is my backrest.
I have the BRP one on my 2009 right now, and she likes it. Just want to make sure the Smoothspyder one is nice, big, and sturdy. I don't want her to feel uncomfortable, I know she refuses to even go around the block without the backrest on.

Well..!!

I don't have one but would if they were available at the time. It is a great backrest and the ability to flip it so either ryder can use it is best feature. Well made and an easy install. It would be my choice

Love it.

Just did a 11000km 3 week trip from Canada to New Orleans and the backrest worked amazingly.

I have one too. Love it and my sometimes passenger loves it too. Very adjustable. I miss it if I forget to move it back to the rider seat. Takes no time to re-position. It's well made and easy to install. Try it. :)

I sat on a Spyder with a factory backrest yesterday and decided it is a must have. I love the versatility of the SmooyhSpyder but I am not a fan of the brackets compared to the clean install of the factory backrest. Also I am a solo rider so much of the advantage is lost on me. I watched the eleven minute video on YouTube and appreciate what a well designed and well made piece it is but I think it is over engineered for my needs.

Have one on my RS; makes all the difference in the world for a comfortable trip or agony. Just returned from Spyderquest ~ 1600 miles round trip.
Getting ready to leave for Houston, Tx, ~ 2400 miles round trip. Don't leave home without it. Also makes a great clamping point for the bungies to hold my dry sac's on securely. Great product, well made and versatile.:clap::yes::yes::thumbup::thumbup:

It is grate . Wife did nodded off Sunday on ride

So I pulled the trigger on a F3-S yesterday. The wife really liked the BRP back rest at the dealer so now I am torn. We all know happy wife.............
I have never had one for the driver, (me) on my 2009 so my thought was just get that one and do it like I have in the past. When she rides with me she is my backrest, on long trips I usually have bags behind me. So for normal spirited daily rides I would probably not use mine anyway. So for the same cost I can just get her the one she likes.

I do agree it does look like a cleaner install as well. Ahhh decisions lol.

I bought the factory backrest yesterday and could not be happier. First Gear makes an awesome dry bag that will fit perfectly behind it on the backseat for my trip next month to Spyders on the Smokies.

I bought a used Utopia backrest off a V-Star for cheap, and made my own bracket for it. It is removable, adjustable, and looks great. She has the Urban rack on her F3s, so a new one from Utopia wouldn't work for her since it attaches to the back seat. Only cost us $100 in total.
