As I mentioned in another thread, our RC volunteered at the Dorm Dwellers BBQ. We had some VIPs there as well. A Major General who was on base for a change of command ceremony at the reserve refueling wing. Three command chiefs and two wing commanders. This is put on semi annually by the base chapel. It's a fun day and gives us a time to fellowship with the single folks who reside in the dorms. We had another distinguished visitor whom I haven't seen in many years and embarrassingly
pps:, I didn't at first recognize. It was a surprise to me and an honor to talk to him again. Col. Chuck DeBellevue. Chuck is one of the five Vietnam war aces, the highest scoring ace, and was the first WSO (weapons system officer) to become an ace. It was a pleasure and an honor to sit and talk to one of my Air Force heroes again.
Chuck is third from right shaking my hand. The man on the far right is Col. Mark Slocum, 4th Fighter Wing Commander. Colonel Slocum has become a good friend of our RC and a well respected command figure on and off base.
