Should a smooth spyder be making a noise?

I am hearing a high pitched noise on my 2013 RT. I recently made some modifications on my Sypder including cat bypass and smooth spyder. Now I am hearing a high pitched noise when I let off the throttle. The noise does not seem to be related to the engine rpms it is coming from the drive train. It sounds like a bearing noise but not sure.

Has anyone heard similar noises?

I believe that finless member posted a video on the smooth spider & it sounded like a high pitched wine as I recall

It is not a howling noise but a whirring noise. Sounds like the noise of a jet engine

They do make a noise at lease mine always has.

yes they do a high pitch turbo sound,on both my 2012 and 2014.

I thought that may be the case. Thanks very much for confirming. It is not an unpleasant noise but I wanted to make sure the noise was not some other issue.

Yes it sounds like a turbine to me. No worries. Jim from Smooth spyder says it something to do with the ribbing on the top of the belt and the plastic idler.

Yes, but only during deceleration, sounds kind a kewl now. Got mine loaded to between 10 - 11 lbs

Make sure your belt is clean- no sticky road grime. Believe it or not I had a customer who complained of a turbine like howl and even though we tried new idler wheels and bearings he could not get rid of the noise. Then one day he washed the Spyder and cleaned the back of the belt- Noise gone!!

It may not be so in your case but its worth checking.

Yep.... that's the sound. Yes you tend to here it most on deceleration. But if you really want to hear it get on a highway that has a wall separating oncoming traffic and then you will hear it all the time. The wall bounces the sound off very clearly.
