• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Shifting into reverse

When shifting into reverse on my 2010 RSS with the SE5 transmission, the clank it makes along with the thump I feel seems excessive but it could be just me. It's always been this way and the dealer has never said anything after they've serviced it (I'm sure they felt it while moving it around). Is this normal for all Spyders?

I have an SM5 GS and it does it on mine. If you think it's excessive, you may want to mention that to your dealer.

:agree:

I have a 2011 RT-S SE and mine is intermittent. I noticed the day after I had the 3k service done that it shifted into reverse very smooth, but it didn't seem to take long before it went back to the hard shift. It's definitely worth a mention to the dealer and make sure they document it in your file.

Even though many of us experience the same thing doesn't mean it should stay that way, or that it's the way it was intended to function. The turn signal cluster is a perfect example - many folks here said it was normal for the turn signal to be a bit 'sticky' and tended to be a little difficult to shut off, or would accidentally turn the opposite one on when trying to turn off, so I didn't bother mentioning it to my dealer. When they test road my spyder during a warranty service, they noticed it, ordered a new cluster, replaced it about a week later, and I haven't had any issues since.

Don't rely on your dealer, or tech, to mention an issue. If it doesn't feel right to you, then it may not be right and is worth having it documented. If your dealer doesn't document it, BRP doesn't know anything about it and can't fix it.

One thing I just thought about...do you warm up your :spyder2: before riding? I just realized that may be the reason mine is intermittent - because I don't always let it warm up before I take off. I'm going to have to pay closer attention to this. It would make sense that if there isn't enough oiling flowing (or oil pressure), that it would cause the machine to shift hard.

Teddy doesn't like it either, but its normal

:2thumbs: and we've been dealing with it for over 42,000 miles of smiles:2thumbs:

It's normal,
But that said,
It wouldn't hurt to clear your mind and ask your dealer to confirm that it's normal.
