• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Satellite radio kit

Does anyone know if the Satellite radio kit is truly a plug and play system or should a person have a dealer install it? I am considering purchasing one for my 2012 RT-S. I would like to try and install it myself if it not too complicated.
Are there any other systems out there that will tir into the Spyder system that do not cost as much? Like a good stereo shop.
I am new to this site and read it everyday. The information is great!!! Thanks to everyone who contributes:bowdown:

Welcome aboard R.T.!
I believe that you'll also need the "Entertainment Harness" to complete the installation.
If anybody here has the instructions for these items; maybe they can send you a copy of them so that you can read for yourself and decide if tackling this one is right for you...
Does anybody out there have the instructions?? Our new friend here could sure use them...

GPS/XM radio

I had just purchased a 2012 Spyder RT-S. I had already purchased a Garmin Zumo 650 with built in XM radio with, of course, a subscription required. They are quite expensive ($800) but I purchased my used for $500. One of the Spyder sites on the internet showed what was involved in the installation of this unit with several of the Spyder's panels having to be removed not counting the wiring of the unit. My Spyder dealerhip sells a GPS kit with wiring and a mount that fits in between the handlebars. I decided to let the dealer install this unit. It took about three hours of labor and they were Spyder mechanics...!!! I'm glad I decided to have it installed......!!

get a xm/sirius radio then buy and use both a fm modulator and the harness that came with the bike the reason for the fm modulator is for power for the unit plus if wanted to you could tune your radio into the unit but i found the harness when plugged in is louder switch to aux and listen to music but one downside to this is you cant change channels but if you are like us we only really like 1 station anyhow. but thats what fuel stops are for change channel if you dont like it oh yes and the antenna just sits on that ledge inside the trunk or you can place it on the outside behind the psgr and still shut the lid close it won't cut the wire basically what you need is what they call the car kit for the radio. enjoy..any other questions please ask

Satellit radio kit

I've been following the threads regarding the xm radio. I didn't like how everyone was saying they couldn't change the stations while riding with an external unit. I went ahead and purchased the xm and entertainment harness from dealership and had them install. I love it. It gives a clean look not having the xm unit mounted on handlebars, plus, you can change stations while riding.

I installed the Xm kit myself and was not to bad a job to do by yourself. I also have the Zumo 665 unit and did purchase xm through the GPS unit. The problem with that instalation is that BRP made the audio conection to the radio non stereo. What a bummer! The plug is stereo but the way they took it to the radio is not. I bought the onboard XM unit from BRP for that very reason. Maybe they gave it some thought so that we would buy their unit instead. I have the Weather and trafic on my garmin 665 only. Another service also. At first Sirius only wanted to give me the data pack with the music audio pack for 175 bucks. I insisted that I only need the data pack. Finaly they gave it to me. Bob

I have the am/fm integrated audio system installed already, I hope to just plug and play. The add in the catalog states that it will function through the handlebar controls. I hope so. After reading this forum I think I might be able to remove a few panels and replace them:yikes:
When you live in Arizona there are a lot of blank spots where you can't get any radio stations.

pictures guys?id like to see what your all talking about mine just sits in the trunk and when i stop somewhere i dont have to disconnect the unit.don't have to worry about theft
