• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Saddlebag locks and latches

I am owner of a brand new used Spyder..
This came to me with the r-35 Can-Am hard saddlebags on it..

I am amazed by how easily the brackets go on and off... I love it... Though I am not really taking the bags off much I can certainly imagine wanting t street machine type look to go cruizing....

Anyway I have a couple of questions to pose

1st and foremost ..... Does anyone else have troubles getting the bags to come off the rack? I push down on the button and wiggle and tug and then all of a sudden for some inexplicable reason they pop off. I just don't understand what I am doing wrong...

Any advice?

Also Keys..... Is there anyway to modify these things so you can leave them unlocked. I live in an area where theft is very unlikely I only want to have them locked when I want them locked. Now having to always have a key to get in them..

Is this possible?

The problem with the bags sticking is typical. Pushing inward, toward the Spyder, can help. Lubricating the mechanism helps, too. As to the key, I know no cure. You get used to it.

Pick up some garage door lube that is safe for plastics... seems to help.

The longer you have them, the easier they are to pop off.

They are designed to always be locked... They would potentially pop open when traveling - You wouldn't want that.

Also, the locks tend to get road grime and grit in them if you do a lot of riding in the rain... And you will occasionally need to flush them out with a decent lube... Not WD-40 (though that will work for the short term), but something that actually is a longer term, but not too sticky of a lube. I flush them before each trip and have no issues. I wish Givi had incorporated a cap for the lock cylinders.

You want them to lock...safer for many reasons...if you're in such a safe neighborhood, just leave the key in them unless you're riding around...

I actually hadn't thought of that Probably cause I only have 1 key... But my understanding is that the hardware stores will have blanks so I can have more made.....OK then

Does anyone want to recommend a good lubricant for the latches?

Wait a second...one key? The sidebags come with 4...where are the other keys?

I bought it used and only got the one

The person you bought it from has the other three...you really think he lost all of them? That would really stink! I guess you could have more made at any hardware store, but losing 3/4 of the keys is kinda bad...
