There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RT TEST RIDE TODAY

My brother and I went on a demo ride today, both riding a Rt, not sure if 2015 or 2016, anyway, here are our findings ( mostly mine ) as he does not have a bike, but did have a S*** A** eating grin after the ride.

Overall apperance very nice looking,
Comfort level, perhaps due to my size, the driver backrest really dug into my back ( definetly would go)
With that felt way too close to the front of the bike compared to gs
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE HYDRAULIC PARK BRAKE LEVER
Felt a huge wind buffet behind me on the highway
The paddle shift was kinda cool and would take some getting used too,
never checked out the trunk or saddle bags
The controls on the handle bar ( passenger side) are way too congested for my liking
Unfortunately were not allowed to play with the stereo, or the ride control , so unable to comment on that.
Would I buy one , perhaps under different circumstances ( back rest mostly)
Would be nice to try it on a longer ride and play with the features.
I guess being said IT IS FOR SOME BUT NOT FOR ME.
Also, did not feel the power was there for a 3 cylinder as compared to my gs, most likely due to the extra weight

If you are a big guy you would want the comfort seat to get the extra 2" that would be a huge difference. I'm really surprised that you didn't like the triple over the v-twin though. To me, there is no comparison.

Was fun...

But as you said it is not for everyone...I love my RS and will keep going till one of us gives out. But they are great spyders for a bunch of folks....

Maybe just me, but the power did just not seem to be there as compared to my gs. Trust me I tried it. There is power there, but not the same kind of head snapping as my gs. Like I said, would like to try one for a longer ride and go from there. Comfort seat ?? Think this ride had all the bells and whistles, but the first thing that threw me was the backrest and closeness to the controls.

If it was on the demo tour then it likely had just the stock seat. If you go to test ride another and it has a backrest just ask them to remove it. It takes a second to remove it and you would be much more comfortable.

Now, have you ridden the F3 yet?

I agree with you on power
My GS felt a lot faster than my 2014 RT limited
The first V twins in the Spyders had more power than later years
But the Triple is so much better on long trips
The F3 has a different rear sprocket so it probably feels more like the GS

What is a hydraulic park brake lever?

There you go again, Ann. :roflblack::roflblack:

I'm just teasin' ya. ;) With the way you ride, and the amount of time you spend in the saddle I have no problem understanding why you like that tripple so much. Having been on a few of them, I really do get it.

But for Spyderguy1, having owned one of the original GS's almost since they hit the market, I would really be surprised if he preferred the new triple to his V-twin. If he lived close to me, I'd let him ride MY 2013 RTL with its rumbling V-twin 998 engine, and no Cat; it's sexy high-reving SE5 trans; and it's long comfort seat with Motorcycle Dave's Comformax GEL pad inside, and a BIG comfy Utopia backrest to lean back on.

Now, THERE's an RT he would absolutely love. :2thumbs: :roflblack::roflblack:

'
I started out on an 08 GS before my 10 RT and it was quick but there is no way I would call it better in any way than the triple.

I also wonder about the power of the 1330 with the semi auto trans. I wonder if it would have a better response if I were controlling the clutch. The manual trans models are a good bit less expensive but I will stick with the semi auto. The power really doesn't seem to compare to my goldwing and I attribute that to the semi auto trans. The extra 100lbs over the wing could have something to do with it also. Personally I need a back rest so I liked the one I rode with a back rest.

......controls on the passenger side.......isn't that in the back!:roflblack::roflblack:

I find it interesting that people compare the power of a RTL with a Goldwing negatively, with any of the goldwings that we ride with they struggle to keep up except on an open flat out highway then they seem to be superior at top end speeds. Off the line and on city or country roads and in the curves they always fall behind. Just my experience.

I'm glad that you gave it a fair chance...

I actually did ask them if it was removable and they said NO, as far as your RT Spyderann, I may just take you up on that test drive one day.

Yes there are controls in the back for the passenger as well ??? Not sure what they are for and did not ask. I think for the ride comfort, but could be wrong. Ever ridden one ? I was refering to the contrtols on the handle bars left hand side............ HA HA

I'm going to be the A-hole in this discussion, read the threads about the DESS issues in this forum before you take out your check book.
