• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT Smoke at startup...

Sooooo... I try not to worry about the small stuff. Weird things happen of and on. But this has become a more consistent "Thing".

We "Broke in" our RT-S SE5 by not going over 6000 RPM's (99% of the time) and babied her until about 670 iles on the odometer. Then we drove it as we normally would.

Ours seems to looooove 6200 RPMs and goes hard/strong through 8500RPMs when shifting or hard steep hills.

But what I have noticed (ours has it's own garage) is after say a 100 mile trip the day before... We get a blue ish puff of smoke out of the exhaust when I fire it up and pull it out. Not consistently mind you.

But a puff maybe every other time. Like a sign we used to get when we changed over from Leaded gas to Unleaded and failed to add the additive enough times to wear out our valve guides.

Thoughts? Do I need to worry or is this normal for this engine? Thanks!

Probably a little oil in your airbox and over night it seeps down toward the throttle bodies. My RS did thay till I put the evoluzione filter on it and my Expedition still does with the K&N oiled filter setup.

Ah!! Well duuuuh. No idea why that slipped my mind. I will look at that this weekend :2thumbs:

i thought the RTs didn't suffer from that problem like the RS.

i would guess a little blow by oil from the seals gets burned off when you first start it.

here is some reading on breaking in the engine (some agree some dont)

http://www.ntnoa.org/enginebreakin.htm

and

http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

I broke in my 103 cu in Harley engine the 2nd link on a Dyno way and it works great...

bottom line don't think you can do much if its probably a super tiny minute amount of left over oil burning off in the pistons when you start it up...
